We have a beautiful staffy girl "Mabel" 13 wks old she is doing fantastic, toilet training, crate training etc we are doing socialising classes but she is worryiinhly aggressive to our 9 yr old daughter, we have mentioned this to vet which he says is probably a domination thing trying to find where she is in the pack, would be greatful for any advice, thanks in advance.

Where is your daughter when this haapens? If she is on the floor the pup sees her as a playmate and that is why she is acting this way. Have your daughter help train the pup and feed her.

At 13 weeks it won't be aggression, they haven't learnt how to be at that age. It's more likely vocal play but as said above, what are the circumstances where this happens ?... 9 year olds and puppies are a great combination for fun play.

When you get a min pop along here and say hi:-

I've moved this to puppy chat as it will get more like minded views here.

Thankyou i realised id posted on the wrong thread, it varies sometimes i can see why mabel may be like she is say if my daughter is running about maybe being a bit giddy but she can also just be happily sat & mabel will just lunge, growl & try to bite her if my daughter tries to get up/turn walk away shell just carryon on going for her until we intervene other than this mabel is lovely & we are having no other problems she is a good puppy otherwise but its a bit worrying as my daughter is becoming a bit frightened, thanks again for youre reply

It sounds like play to me, it's possibly more of a pounce than a growl, but a video of the behaviour might help if you can get one. I doubt that it's real aggression at this age, I would probably encourage calmer behaviour around the puppy to prevent getting her too excited/overstimulating her. How does your daughter react when Mabel starts to get excited and jump up/mouth?

She's very young and staffies do play very roughly, I would try to encourage your daughter to redirect her with a toy when she begins to do this and also get her invoked in training/teaching commands.

Hi we have tried getting My daughter to ignore turn/walk away from her but she will just keep going after her we start training next week so hopefully this will help we have been going to puppy socialising classes & she has done great although she has tried to be quite dominitive towards the other pups

Staffie pups are full on, but puppies just aren't dominant. It's not in their vocabulary at that age. They play like Staffordshire bulls in china shops and it can look like aggression but it's not unless there is something wrong with the puppy, and that is very, very rare.

It might be an idea to get a professional, positive method trainer in to have a look what's going on between your pup and your daughter. They will be able to look at how you're all interacting and give really targetted advice and support to make sure you are all working well together.

Someone here might be able to recommend a good trainer but if not, these two associations are generally fairly reliable.

I'm not sure I'd ask your vet for a recommendation if he's talking about a 13 week old in terms of domination.
