My little girl Staffy is becoming very naughty.
Hello.
our little Staffy has just turned one but as of late is becoming very naughty and not listening. Is this a normal behaviour and will she settle down eventually.
She has had one season and we are waiting to till her third to allow her to have a litter and then get her spayed.
Any thought or hints and tips would be appreciated. I have been told that staff's do get a little naughty between 1 and 2 years old.

Hello. Has anything changed diet/environment/exercise wise? Did she know and respond to commands before?
Can I ask why you feel she needs to have a litter? There are hundreds of staffies killed DAILY in rescues in UK due to overbreeding. Please consider this very carefully. Breeding can often come at both a health risk for your dog, and a financial risk for you.

No nothing has changed. Same household routine, same exercise routine. I think she is just finding her feet as she is growing.
The reason for her having a litter is that we would like her to be a mum, just the once. I cant see how this can be dangerous for a dog as its totally natural. She has lovely colourings and is a very pretty dog.
Lots of friends have asked if she does have puppies they would like one. I am not looking to breed her for fanatical gain just for the fact I think it would be nice for her to have one litter.

She may well be, her hormones are probably running wild and settling after her season also.
I don't mean to be rude, but if you don't know the health risks from breeding, you really shouldn't even be considering it. There can be so many complications from breeding, it really should only be left to professionals with a vet's guidance. Dog's don't need a chance to be a mum!! Especially when we are already overrun with backyard breeders in the UK as it is.

I can only agree with Rachel as far as the breeding is concerned. Our girl came from a litter of 5 and the breeder struggled to home one of them. What if your girl had 9 or 10?

Just to let her be a Mum is not a very viable reason to have pups, as Rach has said there are hundreds probably thousands in shelter that often end up being euthanised. You may like to have a read of this also

Welcome to the forum
They do go through the teenage phase and revert back to being mischievous and little devils pushing the boundaries, it will pass given time but keep consistent with training.
Please don't feel that everyone is having a go about breeding, ultimately it is your choice, however, please do take on board the comments already given. We all to often have people asking what to do with unwanted Staffies and it is heartbreaking when we know they end up in rescue.

Also (OP) be very careful of friends who say they'd like a puppy. If they wanted a puppy they would have gone out and got one already. What they mean is puppies are cute and if there was one next door then they'd go ahead and give it a go, and we all know where that leads - more staffies in rescue.

I wouldnt consider letting your dogs have puppies you also have the upkeep medication treatment of the pups as well as the mum before the dogs are rehomed supposing they are. There are lots to consider before the dog has pups and the minimum fora puppy to leave its mum is 10 weeks there is the feeding of the puppies as well when theyre born.
