started lunging at cars again
Densil has got his old problem back of lunging, jumping up and barking at traffic. I really don't know why this has suddenly started again. He has always been wary of large noisy lorries, jcb type trucks and fork lifts which do travel down near where we live so I can't avoid them. I have always got him to look at me and give him a treat and he has been doing really well by looking at me without me even having to ask him.
Today however we had 2 trucks go by and he looked at them but was okay so I treated him. Then he just started jumping and lunging at every car that went by, so I scolded him by saying naughty boy and just took him home. Weekends are not too bad as we don't get as much traffic, but during the week is a nightmare as I just can't avoid the traffic altogether although I do my best.

Please don't scold him. That can make matters worse by him associating something that worries him with being told off. It's also indicating to Densil that there's something unpleasant.
Something you might want to try is 'look at that' instead of looking at you. I've found it can help a dog look at the object in a different, more positive way. This is a good video on how to train for it:

In other words, you train the dog to interact positively with the thing they'd otherwise have a negative reaction to, if that makes sense!

Be mindful also you're aware he doesnt like these things sometimes you can tense up and the dog senses the tension and thinks theres something to be scared of. Plenty of positive encouragement with things hes unsure of through time he will realise theres nothing to be scared of this does take time tho.

Suki is still like that on occassion but we just persist with the watch me command and she is okay almost all of the time. Agree with the advice above as well

I do remember you talking about this sometime ago. Could something have spooked Densil that you are unware about? Agree with the above advice.

We had this with Harley he used to cower then chase after cars and buses he is a lot better now we found making to much fuss made things worse we just try and use some encouraging words in a soft voice and if hes lunging we turn around and walk the other way for a bit until hes calmer. This seems to work for us

Re: started lunging at cars again
Been trying the other tactic now - instead of getting him to look at me I am saying 00hh look here comes a lorry and being happy and excited about it and then giving him a treat if he looks at it and doesn't react. Seems to be working. People nearby must think I'm mad, lol. I say oohh look here comes a big red lorry like talking to a 2yr old.

Its amazing what our dogs pick up from us. By doing what you doing, you are relaxed, Densil will pick up the vibes from you. Fingers paws crossed this new tactic will work wonders.
