fishy smell help!!
My son was sat with bee on him and started complaining of a funny smell he said its smells like fish i originally thought he was joking but yep her but stinks like fish and so does my carpet near my table I noticed it the other day and convinced myself I couldn't smell it but you can as my partner has just noticed it too any ideas on how to get rid of the smell from my carpet my partner thinks it could be her anal glands I thought that didn't happen till she was a bit older

Re: fishy smell help!!
Done a little bit of research and it could be her anal glands. A firm stool will trigger the anal glands into releasing, a soft or small stool will not activate them and they will continue to fill up, this will be down to your dogs diet. What food is she on? If she's dragging her bum across the floor she is trying to sort the problem herself and will leave the smell behind! Take her to the vets and they will empty them for her if this is the problem.

Re: fishy smell help!!
Her stools are firm she isn't dragging her bum either she's in the process of going on to dry food so its half wet half dry and the food she's going on to is Purina pro plan I buy it from the vets she has started eating twigs tho when she's in the garden

Re: fishy smell help!!
I would use a pet friendly disinfectant on the carpet and washing your clothes in the machine with a scented conditioner should easily get rid of it.
She doesn't necessarily have to be dragging her bum for it to be her anal glands, that's just one of the behaviours she may show. Vets is a good idea.

Sounds like anal glands to me as well. We have a small hand held steam cleaner that we have used for years that works well

Yep Bane has had this before! We've been sitting on the sofa with him thinking what the hell is that surely not Bane?! And after reading about it a few times on here realised that must have been what it was
Try some white vinegar on the carpet! Bane peed on our duvet once so I soaked it in vinegar. Kinda burns your eyes a bit to start with but then the smell goes away

Re: fishy smell help!!
Unless its the anal glands, I wouldnt worry. Pixee does give off a fishy smell once in a while. I have worked out the reason, if she is scared of something, she will give off a fishy smell, also if she has refused a walk, due to rain, cold, and hasnt done her poo, she can give off a fishy smell, (not all the time, it does depend on what she has eaten) but never rubs her bum, I just get her outside, job done, smell gone.
