Any ideas, raised hair? Empty Any ideas, raised hair?

Hi everyone,

When we got up this morning we found that otis had raised hair in small patches, from his head down to his back and legs. He isn't itching them and doesn't seem to be in any discomfort when we have a look at them.

Just wondering has anyone come across anything like this before?

We were thinking is it potentially an allergic reaction.

Thank you and hope everyone is okay

Sarah

Hi Sarah...

When you say rasied hair do you mean almost the same as when their hackles go up on their back? Is it possible Otis has been wriggling around in his sleep so its fuzzed the hair up? My boy wakes with this sometimes but its clearly the way hes slept. Maybe a pik would help?

Hello,

Yeah it's a little like the way fur would stand with hackles, just not as pronounced. When you run your hand over them you can feel a mild lump.

Got him booked in the vets, they think its a histamine reaction, very common in staffies apparently. Got some antihistamines incase it happens again. Panic over, most of it has gone down now thank goodness.

Thank you

Sounds like a reaction to me. Bo has the odd one and it's very obvious on his smooth black coat. The last one went down in a couple of hours and vanished completely by the end of the day so I assume it's an allergy, like hives. Same as I get with a certain type of grass, I end up with blobby arms like an alien.
