Hi everyone thx for looking at my post, I have a staffy he's almost 6, we had for almost 4yrs he used to be a roaming dog kicked out in the morning and brought in at night, since we had him he only goes out on a lead never roams anymore there something wrong with him last couple of days/week, he is very unsetaled in the house pacing up and down, he went outside for a walk for about 1hr came home and made a mess in the passage, usally when he does wrong he runs to bed when you come in to the room but he didn't this time it was like he didn't know he done it, the other thing is he will still listen sit, paw but he usally lies on the sofa when we are not in room and jumps down when he hears us coming, but the last couple of days he just sat there when I tell him to get down he just looks at me like he don't understand never had this problem before,  He had vomiting and Diaraha about 2 weeks ago, what i'm wondering before I take him to the vet monday has anybody had the same problem, he's 1 of the family and just want to help him, thank you in advance for any help.

I'd take him to the vet. It sounds to me like he's uncomfortable. Even if there is nothing medically wrong a vet check will put your mind at rest, and they may well be able to advise on the behaviour side of things, or suggest someone who could.

This doesn't sound at all like dementia to me. My last staffie had
dementia at 15/16 years of age. I would guess he is still feeling
poorly, possibly to do with his recent sickness. If it were my dog I
would take him to the Vet for further investigation.

Hope all goes well.

I'd recommend the vet too, he still might be feeling under the weather. At least then your mind will be at rest and it might be as simple and going back to basics. Keep us posted!

Hi Rob our 3year old Macey does something similar but not as extreme as yours, when we take the ball on the field with her she goes after it like something possessed but then all of a sudden she starts to run after the ball then stops turns around and looks at us for a couple of seconds as if she had forgotten what she was doing, then turns back and runs after the ball, this can happen 3-4 times in a 30min play time, everything else about her is normal
