Oh bless him Sad I spent some time recently with a really old boy with dementia , he too would still try and chase dogs if he could smell them the grumpy old bugger!! It does seem odd at this age , couldn't be another kind of neurological problem? Has he seen a vet yet? Definitely concerning!

Definitely get a Vet to check him over, could be an infection or dehydration, many varied reasons why. My Collie had dementia in the last few years... would wander into a bush and then couldn't get out, sometimes he'd just stand there, you'd call him and get no response at all, then a few minutes later, it was like you'd been gone for a week. I think the funniest one he did, was tried to take my 10 year old daughter on the bus, he'd never been on a bus, but one pulled up next to him on our walk and he was adamant he wanted to get on it... I had to retrieve them both! Get him checked over and give him big hugs xx

Sounds like some of the symptoms that my parents springer/collie has since she had her first stroke, she still thinks she's a pup and follows Ledger around (reminding him that she is top dog) but she kinda zig zags on walks now, gets easily lost if off lead and at home she paces in circles quite a lot in the house it gets very tiring watching her work out where she wants to go to at times

Get to the vet but if it is a stroke it's very much treatable. Lucky had her first atleast 5 years ago and has now had three with the last being about 6 months ago, from what the vet said hers have been big ones but at 15 she is still keeping up with Ledger if anything is more hyper than him
