yer he will they need regular handling.
Yes they are fairly intelligent, they are pretty much like a kitten in the way they act and learn.

No I really really really want him. When I was younger I used to volenteer at a place called Miss Tiggywinkles, its was a wildlife rescue place and I would de-tic the hodgehegs, I've always loved them. Pleeeeeeeeeease Ella

Re: My hedgie is finally here!
Thanks Ella, gonna start doing some homework! Are they easy to look after? Maybe like a hamster? Or harder? That may sound like a silly question! Xx

erm if you do some reading up on them then they are no harder to keep then a hamster you just have to make sure you keep them warm. If you have any q's then your more then welcome to ask me

Re: My hedgie is finally here!
What sort of cage do they live in? My place isn't huge. What exersize do they need, do they smell, I've asked b4 what do they eat? I could grill you with questions for ages. Before your post I've never heard of them or seen them before but I really love Xx

Re: My hedgie is finally here!
right lol
The easiest and cheapest thing to keep them in is a large zoozone 2, i got mine from
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180523942924
no they don't particualy smell as they become litter trained quickly, so you are best to put a little litter tray in with them and you just move any poo's into the litter tray and they soon click on. Also i keep mine on fleece liners rather then sawdust etc so they obv don't smell
there main staple food is a good quailty cat biscuits, which needs to have 30% protein and 10% fat in it overall, they also need insects and the easiest thing is dried mealworms if your not a fan of insects mine love them. On the hoggie website once you have joined there is a list of foods to feed as treats and dangerous foods.
For the exercise you HAVE to give them a wheel, unless you get a baby like me who is only 8 weeks old, as they can't have the wheel until they are 12 weeks. They also love to come out for a wander about outside there home, they recommend an hour a night but if he can be out all night then thats great. This also helps to tame them and helps with bonding.
I think thats everything, any more questions feel free to ask. But i would recommend joining the hoggie site and having a look at all the info on there it's really helpful.

He's certainly hansome and a very unique pet. I've always wanted an exotic type of pet myself. Does Harvey have an opinion of the new arrival?
