Dog insurance recommendations
On behalf of a friend - with two King Charles Spaniels:
Can anyone recommend a pet insurer/policy? She went without insurance for years but now wants to take policies out for both her dogs - in case of an accident (say they run in front of car, dog is damaged, car is damaged) or ill health.
There are so many policies out there - any advice?
Thanks!

Re: Dog insurance recommendations
I was with LV but have changed to Animal Friends Superior Plus on a lifetime cover. Both are worth checking out, but...
...this is not a recommendation because I don't think it's possible to recommend a provider or a policy. Each dog's needs are different and what suits one person might not suit another. It's important that your friend understands the differences in various types of cover and annual payout limits and makes the decision based on their requirements and budget. It would be a bad idea to take out a policy simply because someone else says it's great, it may be totally the wrong thing for your friend's dogs and end up causing a load of problems - and money!

Re: Dog insurance recommendations
We use animal friends. We have all of life cover. £160 per year. We were paid out no problems when she needed stitches.

Re: Dog insurance recommendations
The comparison sites are as good as anywhere (and can claim a meerkat ) however keep an eye out for whether the cover is for the years claims or per illness/injury also many now you have to pay the excess +10% of the final fee so something to look out for.

Re: Dog insurance recommendations
We're with MoreThan and have found them very good - we keep expecting them to protest at ANOTHER claim but they haven't so far!
I think Dogface makes a very good point though, that what's offered by the different companies may suit one person but not another. It's worth your friend spending a bit of time dedicing what is important for them, then checking the quotes for the level of cover.
