New Staffie owner
Hi, I'm Petra and yesterday evening I received an 8 month old Staffie Bitch (possibly older as she has apparently had one season a short while back),from a young couple who could no longer care for her. I've always loved Staffies but never owned one before. Bo will sit and stay in the house and sometimes outdoors. But I really need to stop her pulling on the lead and tormenting the Cats lol. Since yesterday evening she has learnt the word 'steady' and slows down to a gentle walk until my back eases. She like all staffies is totally lovable and loves everyone, specially men and jumps up on them like crazy she also loves children and is gentle with them. I am here to find out as much as I can to get some more control over her and give her the home she deserves. She is house trained and lets me know when she need to go out......... ermmm that's all I can think of at the moment as I have a Curry on the stove. I shall be back later and am very happy to have found your site

Hi & Welcome from Flo and me
We're here to help so your in the right place. To stop the pulling simply stop walking until Bo learns that she won't get very far if she does. Staffs are smart as you know and she will soon learn. As for cats... Errr ... Someone that has them and a Staff will surely be along to offer some helpful hints

Welcome from Iza and me
My girl was brought up with 2 cats, your one seems young enough so the cats will prob be wary and give the dog a few swipes if she gets too much, trust me the dog will learn. My cats boss Iza around and they get on fine now, just patience and keep a look out esp for cat swipes to the eyes.

Re: New Staffie owner
Thank you all for your advice and welcome,at the moment my two cats are upstairs with a child gate at the bottom,Buster decided to investigate and Bo went for him,not in a nasty way but the playful way that can sometimes turn the other way. Buster escaped (he's not known for his intelligence) and Bo was sent to bed, where she still is,looking all forlorn. It's early days yet but I have hope, as she is ..well She has my heart lol. Now I'm off back down stairs for my curry and somehow avoid the pleading looks of Bo as she is starving to death lol..Goodness I love that Dog!
