Guess who's going back on the long line.
Theia has always been pretty good on recall and staying pretty close to us when off lead. However, yesterday with Lynn and today with me she's taken off and blanked us.
Today we went out and she spotted a springer chasing a ball, about 70m away. So now she thinks she's a dressage horse, head, lugs and tail in the air. I got her to look at me look at me and gave a treat, walked on a little with her still looking at me, gave a treat. She'd turned back into a dog now and seemed relaxed. I unclipped her and walked on treating twice more. When she realised she wasn't getting all the treats she about turned and off after the springer. Absolutely no recall at all and I had to run over. The bloke was fine with her running over so no dramas.
We were expecting this happening at some point, so I'm not worried about it. Just a case of back to basics. But it's not something we have to think about for a couple of weeks as she goes to be spayed tomorrow.

I don't think this is entirely Theia's fault... my Flo has done exactly this twice this week. I've always been able to entice her with her Stix but now I can't claim that that works 100%. I'm wondering if it's something in the air

I just think she's approaching the 'teenage' phase, where she thinks she knows better than us

Ah yes... The fun phase
Just an update on Flo's behaviour today, she didn't put a paw wrong which goes completely against what she's been like the last couple of days with the dogs in the park, perfect recall

Re: Guess who's going back on the long line.
Exactly the same. Drop her 8:30, pick up about 4.
I think it's so they know they're empty! With her not getting fed in the morning we've saved half her evening meal till now, they said nothing after 10.
I called in the vet today and they reckon she'll be able to walk out, so I'll put her on the front seat. We only have a 5 minute drive.
