Long line
I have been looking at long lines but have never bought nor used one before so have no idea what I am looking for
Is there a particular length/material/feature I should be looking for?

Re: Long line
Best thing anyone will ever buy for their dog imo.
This is the one I use. The fella ships worldwide too, they are very well priced. I think a few members on hear use this one from me going on and on about them
I have 2 or 3 different lengths from the same guy, he'll make them what size you want. But 50ft is enough.

Re: Long line
The one Mat posted is the same as mine, I think. A really useful thing for teaching recall, or even just if you don't feel comfortable trusting your dog off the lead. I put Loki on his all the time, bit fiddly and annoying at first, but get easier

I've got a 50ft one, also from ebay not sure it it was the same seller though but it's fantastic

Re: Long line
I have the same one as Matt has posted. Think mine is 100ft. Very good leads, used it when we had snow and even though it was getting dragged along the snow it only felt slightly wet, which is important since they spend allot of time getting dragged on wet floors

Re: Long line
I think ours is 50 feet as well. I'm thinking of getting a longer one to give her a little more freedom though.

Thanks for your replies everyone - much appreciated
I am definitely going to order the 50ft one ... do you think this will be enough to cover use for recall and walks as well as things like trips to the beach, or would I be better to order a couple of different lengths?

50ft should be great and ideal for recall training. I only got the 100ft one so I could go to a local park and play fetch with Blue while still having him on lead as he can be a bit nervous round other dogs. Oh I learn't I can throw further than 100ft

Re: Long line
We have also always used a long line for Rocky, I think we got ours from Pets At Home though but does the same job as the one posted above.
You can also get them in a softer material which is a bit kinder on your hands as in the link below, I haven't used one though so cannot personally recommend it:

Re: Long line
Training lines are great - I got in quite a tangle at first but I will always put Otis on it if I am unsure and it's just me with him, so I can step in if I need to. Fantastic for practising reacalls too
