Scoobs is in for x-rays tomorrow
He has had stiff rear legs for a while now, but nothing extreme and in the last 2 weeks, he has developed a slight hobble on his front legs. He stretches a lot... and I mean a lot!
Anyway, took him to the vet on the weekend who could feel a very slight bit of play in his elbow and stifles which has led to a bit of inflammation.
He explained that this is very common in staffy's but usually when they are older which leads to most of them having that low wide squat look when they walk.
He's going to check everything under the xray tomorrow and then if everything seems ok, he will give him a strong course of anti-inflamatorys which will help to loosen up the joints and stop them from trying to stiffen up.
Other than this, Scoob is very upbeat and playful. He still chases the ball and birds like crazy and does not seem to let this bother him the little trooper. The vet said to carry on with exercise as normal.
I'll update once I get him back from xrays tomorrow

Re: Scoobs is in for x-rays tomorrow
OK, picked Scooby up last night and the vet ran me through the xrays.
He has ever so slightly mis aligned joints in his elbows but his stifles looked fine. He stressed that what he was showing me was so small that we could only see it with digital zooming but it was good to highlight now, because left untreated would lead to athritis 5+ years down the line like so many staffys seem to get.
So he's on a course of anti-infammatories to help him relax his joints a little and let them tighten up nice and straight plus he also has to have an injection into his joints once a week for 4 weeks.
With him being on a raw diet, I'm now going to look into a good joint supplement for continued use.
Overall, expensive haha but I'm glad with the outcome

Re: Scoobs is in for x-rays tomorrow
Glad to hear Scoob is doing okay and it's nothing major to worry about!
I used Glucosomine for my last dogs joints and it worked a miracle. You can buy them in a large tub from Holland and Barrett or the vet will prescribe you them...they're the same as the human ones, just ten times more expensive! (They charged us £60 and i found them on the high street for £25)
Also might be an idea to add fish oils to his diet...maybe? Not sure what the crack is if hes on a raw diet.

Re: Scoobs is in for x-rays tomorrow
My gsds were on glucosamine and condroitin tablets from healthspan and they worked wonders lived till 12 & 13 and only suffered slightly from stiffness which was great as everyone thought they were still young.
