New Member Living in Spain
Just become a member. My son's two staffies just been sent over from UK to southern Spain, aaagh!
I have moved house to accommodate them, they have a lovely spacious warm barn and long run outside. Lane for walks and beach at weekends. I'm not sure if they are happy. Don't seem settled. When they are in barn they want to be out, when they are out they want to be in, when we go for walks they are like sniffer dogs, looking sad and pulling to return to car, One is a rescue dog who has shared home between me and my son since 2009 and has had 9 moves so far. He is whelping all day seeking attention and gets worst as days go by. \the pup is starting to copy. They don;t know how to play, a ball or game or seek the treat is not appealing. If I put them into my car all day they feel safe, snooze and not a peep. Same on a night. As soon as it becomes dark, nothing. I can get up late in a morning, not a peep. They usually start yawning around 9am and then still won't come out if it's raining. They have been used to sleeping on bed with my son over last 2 years but have been left long periods due to work. Now they are outdoors, know me well and very affectionate to the limit and I need to calm them down. The old dog when he sees me can jump almost to my throat seeking attention and I am in my late fifties so am being battered and bruised all the time. I love them and helping out my son who wants them back soon but I'm concerned about this change from Uk to Spain and getting into a routine, food, diet, location, bugs, and being able to be the leader so I can enjoy walks with them rather than pulling. Just a new member with lots of questions. Sorry for going on so much but there is even more to tell........ !!! Thank you for reading and any reply is appreciated.

Re: New Member Living in Spain
Hi & Welcome from Flo and me
I would think that a lot of the issues you talk about are down to the changes they've gone through, it's all new to them and unsettling especially being all cosy in a bed to being on their own in the barn.
With the playing I would think that the more you interact with them, the more they will settle and see this as normal. Staffs crave human contact which is why they go mad when they see you so again, the more you interact the more normal it will be for them and they should settle.
As for the pulling on lead, there are many different techniques you could try but not with both dogs at the same time if your alone as this would be too hard to do. There are links on here that might help & I'll try to find them and post tomorrow.
The rain thing is typical for Staffies and nothing unusual

Re: New Member Living in Spain
hia from me and sasha i guess it will just take time for them to settle, such a big move, for you all and you understand whats going on ,the older dog you say has had 9 moves so he will be looking for all the reassurance he can get,the younger one could just be picking up from him lots of cuddles and time i would say.

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me
I'm not surprised to hear that the dogs are unsettled, Staffies are a breed that crave human contact and would not be very happy at being shut outside in a barn by themselves.
