found a staffy for the 2nd time roaming the streets!

So today I seen a staffy wondering the streets, so me being me I get it on a lead check its collar it has a tag, I phome the owner take it to the owners house, they didnt even seem bothered that there dog was missing, this is the second time ive took this dog back to there house, its frustrating that they dont even seem to care, the first time they said they didnt even know he got out, how can you not realise your dogs gone missing when your whole house is in? Pretty frustrating!

I was thinking of calling the dog warden but was worried that as it costs 130 pound to get it out that they might not pay it, and if it isnt socialised right that it might get euthanized, it worries me,

You did the best you could for the poor dog. It is so frustrating that people have pets but think it's ok to just forget about them when it suits.

Well done for taking the poor dog back, I get frantic if Rocky is out of my sight for a minute as I know this neighbourhood quite well

Maybe next time you could ask if they really want the dog or whether rehoming would be an idea ???

I always go to a dog if I see its on its own, only problem is once this black lab cross barked at me haha so got to be careful, its about the 5th dog this year ive seen roaming, I think dog owners need to take more responsibility, and I know I do worry with the fact the dog seems okay with people but I dont know about other dogs, I hate how many staffies are put to sleep each year due to bad owners, thank you everyone for your comments! :-)

Hi, it seems that you have tried hard to help an owner that just couldn't care less about his dog, unfortunately there are far too many of those around. I know in my area any dogs that are handed in to the police or picked up by the dog wardens are taken to the local council [i]approved[i] kennels [the less said about that the better!],then if not claimed and paid for [last time I checked, the fee was £75.00p], the dog had a life expectancy of 7 days, couldn't you find an animal rescue establishment that has a no kill policy?. Both of my dogs came from such rescues, it may be a possible answer, but well done for what you have done so far. Stay safe Critter.

I would do exactly the same! There's this one dog that always gets out down by a river that we walk along, she is friendly and gorgeous but she just roams and the owners don't bother. I called the dog warden once and they just said oh yeah we know the dog it's always out...
