Dexter & Shay
Hi everyone my name is Shay and I have a 7month old male staffie called Dexter. He is great company very spunky and energetic and very head strong.
I have a couple of questions which I am hoping someone out there can answer:-
Firstly Dexter will grab the bottom of my trousers and pull them like mad. When I say no he seems to get very aggressive showing his teeth, I can tell him No numerous times and he then barks and jumps up to my hands and starts nipping. I think he is playing but sometimes i am really not sure, can anyone help with this.
Secondly, I take him out for 2-3 walks a day, he socialises with dogs all the time. We come home he will have a nap then we have a play on the floor inside if its wet or outside in the garden, but sometimes he stops and starts crying and I don't know why.
If anyone can help me with these little quandaries, I would be most grateful
Thanks
Shay

Re: Dexter & Shay
Hi & Welcome from Flo and me
In answer to your first query, Dexter is a puppy and this is entirely normal with Staff puppies. It isn't aggression as puppies don't know what that is, it is simply playing. To stop it, do what you have been doing. The penny will drop eventually but you must be consistent.
I'm not sure sure what the reason is for your second query. Someone else might have some suggestions though

Hiya from me and Vinnie, yes all normal for puppy as said a firm no and consistency. He may whimper for attention when play stops, my boy does it now at 3years of age but keep an eye on him incase any underlying problems

Welcome from Bane and I
I think most pups go through that! What is it with ankles and feet?! If when you tell him no, he starts to jump and nip just turn your back on him and ignore him or walk away. They grow out of it

Hi and welcome to the forum from Rocky and me.
When you say he "Cries" after playing does it seem that he is in pain ? or just wants to continue playing more ?
