Snake bite treatment for dogs
I would assume that for most of you guys this isnt a big problem but here in Aus the snake season has just started up.
The link is for a page with first aid treatment for dogs and the vid at the end is a news report of a Staffy that after being bitten by a brown managed to kill it and survive.

Re: Snake bite treatment for dogs
Snake bites are not a huge problem here in the UK as we only currently have one venomous snake, the Adder. Bites are rare but do occure.

Re: Snake bite treatment for dogs
I nearly needed this advice on yesterdays walk myself we came across a tiger snake Harrie spotted it and was off she danced around it jumping and barking and I couldn't call her off.
I tried to run the other way in hope she would follow even chucked a stick I couldn't grab her as she just dodged me and went back to the snake, the snake started to rear up and try to strike her luckily it was a small one and didnt have a lot of reach in the end a few good swings with the lead and a good crack on the head with the metal clip for the snake sorted the problem.
My adrenalin was flowing by the end and even though the whole thing may only have lasted a minute or 2 I was exhausted I hope I dont have to do this again.
Cheers
