Raw diet question, advice please. :-)
Hey guys,
Looking for some advice from people more in the know with the raw diet, I'm thinking about changing my doggies onto a raw diet, I have done a fair bit of reading/ researching over the years. But struggled to find local suppliers.
Well basically I have found a local supplier that can cheaply supply:
1) Chicken carcuseses
2) pork tongue
3) trotters
And other parts of meat not used that often by human customers .
Would what I listed above be a good start to the path of moving to a raw diet??
Cheers in advance for any help

Re: Raw diet question, advice please. :-)
hi to start off you need to stick to chicken mince with low bone content and no offal for a few weeks then add another mine like turkey , my 7mth old now eats duck, venison, lamb, tripe, beef, chicken, turkey and fish with lots of offal.. are you on facebook ? i can give you the details of the raw site i am on, its very friendly and has all the files for age, weight and of course the 80/10/10 , muscle meats, bone, liver and offal percentages . I order all my meats in from frozen dog food wholesalers , Daf and landywoods i have found to be very good so far . do you have freezer space ? lol as you never seem to have quite enough room . I have yet to try pork as some dogs dont tolerate it to well.

Re: Raw diet question, advice please. :-)
Chicken carcases would be alright to start with along with maybe some finer minces to get her used to digesting the bone. You then need to add a variety of meats to rule out any allergies/intolerances and to work your way up to the richer meats such as beef and offal.
I have heard that quite a lot of dogs struggle with/can be allergic to pork so thats probably not a good starting point. Trotters are also very high in bone content and some dogs struggle to digest so much bone when they are not used to it so I would save those for later and keep them infrequent (pork is very high in fat)
If you were thinking of doing a raw diet properly, she will need more than just chicken carcus, trotters and tongue.
