Doggy Daycare
Milo is going for a free two hour taster session at Doggy Daycare this afternoon to see how he likes it. We're off to the states for 2 weeks next month to see my Grandson for the first time so I need somewhere really nice for Milo to stay.
It's run by a lovely lady and her two teenage children who are ardent animal lovers but dogs in particular and she only has 5 dogs at one time and they have to be dog / people friendly so I'm hoping he'll get on okay. It's got all the right insurance certificates and loads of reviews.
Wish him luck

Re: Doggy Daycare
The best of luck from here. Without wanting to put a downer on things, I'll just mention that I once tried such an arrangement for Douglas and it ended in disaster and I lost my flight because of it. I took the dog along for the trial and everything was fine and agreed. However, on the evening before the holiday, when I went back to drop off Douglas for real, there were a couple of dogs (Hungarian Riszlas) that by then were also staying there. They were far too much in Douglas's face and he got upset and snapped back. The Riszlas were regular customers (being dropped off there every week) and the daycare owner obviously did not want to lose their custom. With only 12 hours before my flight she refused to take Douglas, despite our previous agreement. I couldnt get another kennels and my flight was non-changeable so it was lost. So that cost me a lot of worry and also money. The question of fault or not (which dog started it) doesnt really come into it in cases like this because, even if the Riszlas started it, Douglas has a bigger bite and can do damage if he's riled. One of the Riszlas was some fancy extra pedigree and was being showed. So with both of them at probably £1000 a pop, my poor low-class rescue dog was not going to win the battle of hearts, minds and wallets. I dont know if this is how they all operate, but the daycare owner in this particular case had no facility for accommodating the dogs separately if there was a tiff between them. The whole business model seemed to be predicated on the idea that there is peace and love between all dogs at all times (which obviously there is not). Now, for his protection and my own peace of mind, Douglas goes, when necessary, to a very good regular kennel set-up which is able to cope with the full range of anticipated doggy behaviours.

Re: Doggy Daycare
We couldn't make the daycare today after all - changed to Weds morning. I'm sorry to hear about Douglas and loss of your holiday yeahbut - that was awful. It is of course one of the awful things that crosses your mind and I will make sure I put the question to her. It's the last thing that I want to happen .

There is no way we could leave Rocky anywhere like that either, he would just be far too stressed out by the whole thing. I hope it goes well for though.
