She's going to give me a heart attack!
So about two weeks before her spay out side fence blew over in a storm and we are still waiting for it to be fixed.
We rigged some chicken wire up and she quickly learnt to jump over that. She just sort of barges over it! lol. So then we used the broken pieces of fence and laid them on there side so they where about waist high (I'm 5'7). And when she was outside put her long 20 m lead on her. She thinks it's a fantastic game running around the neighbours back yard while I try and catch her.
She was spayed on Friday and she has been pretty mellow and I forgot about putting the lead on her as I didn't think she would think to attempt it in her current state.
I was very wrong, I thought she had wandered out for a wee. No. She or the wind knocked one of broken panels over and she was merrily having zoomies all over their back yard.
Luckily for me she loves the dude next door and he was able to catch her.
She is obviously feeling much better though I wonder if the painkillers are masking any pain a little to well? Just lucky she hasn't hurt herself and yes no more outside unless the lead is on. The fence contractors can the here soon enough. I'll be glad when those stitches come out!

The recovery process can be difficult. Have you tried mental games or training to help tire her out?

Maybe some games of hide and seek with treats indoors, do you have a kong you could stuff for her ?, this will tire her out.

Milo was the same - instructions from vet? DON'T let him charge around or go upstairs (carry him up - WHAT???), don't let him jump up on furniture for 2 flaming weeks. I did try but it's impossible. Staffs have so much energy. Luckily he didn't come to any harm

Re: She's going to give me a heart attack!
Thanks guys. Yes she had a kong, hadn't thought of hide and seek though as she only has access to the kitchen dining and lounge rooms (which is quite a large area). We went for a quick walk after the incident and she did really well but it started raining so I cut it short. Will go longer tomorrow. She also comes everywhere possible in the car with me. She gets her stitches out on the 13th so another week to go.fingers crossed no more shenanigans! Haha I'm dreaming I know!

Yup agree with the above post. It is so hard to keep a Staff calm, they just love to live. All you can do is try to minimise the stress on the op.
