Insects are a menace

Yup he's done it again. Took Milo for a lovely run around the park, then he decides he wants to jump in the stream for a slurp & a paddle but steps on bluddy wasp. Yelps, leaps 3 feet in the air & looked really sorry for himself. Then later same day just before we go for our evening stroll he spots a huge Wolf Spider on the stairs. Oh this is such fun says Milo nudging it with his nose, tapping it with his feet. After walkie he comes back full of bravado and proceeds to knock 7 bells out of the poor spider when - yep you guessed it - yelp, jumps up in the air so I assume the spider saw him coming & had time to think about it. I never thought it would bite him.

Today he's off his food, got the runs a little and a bit lethargic. Must be all the toxins - poor boy

He's a silly sod honest - he's just chased a fly and ate it even tho I shouted 'HOT' (my word for 'dangerous things' ). It used to work fine with my previous Staff but Milo takes no notice lol. He'll hopefully learn

I'm worried about Milo. He's shaking like a leaf and cowering. He's been like this most of the day. I took him for a little walk earlier & he wasn't interested in his ball or anything else, was panting after only a little way. He's drinking alot of water. My husband keeps saying its nothing and to stop going on about it. I'm worried cos he's not himself at all.

mmm may be he has had a reaction to the bite,you could give him half a a piriton antihistamine

Vets tomorrow if he's no better poor little thing. His tummy is very tender - he yelped when I cuddled him so maybe just tummy ache. He's not pooed much today either which is very unusual for him. He's a poo machine.

I hate it when they're poorly - especially shaking - you feel so helpless

Hi - he's still sleeping, shivering and being anxious bless him - he's actually in the cupboard under the stairs in the dark . It's horrible to see him like this. I took him to the vets this morning after he'd gone for a walk. He actually did a poop (a huge one) while we were out which was a relief for him & me so it's not a blockage - phew. Vet says his temperature is up slightly, she examined his foot and tummy etc etc and can find nothing wrong. So she's given him a Metacam injection and a couple of tins of 'special' food for his tum and I have to ring her in a couple of days with any update. So I still don't really know.

He won't be going to agility on Thursday now which is a shame. I'll leave it now til the spring when he's a little older.

I didnt know spiders bite! if Pedro spots on of the huge onez we're getting in the house lately before I do, he gallops over to the wall and eats it!

We're still not sure whats wrong with Milo. Vet now suspects joint probs with his back leg (cos of his waddle) and has prescribed good ole Metacam drops once a day to see how he goes. One minute he's back to normal then all of a sudden he appears to be in pain (shaking, looking alarmed, ears back) and won't even take a bit of sausage from me. Worrying time.

Yeah there's loads of big spiders around at the mo and they're entering peoples houses. They do bite - it's been on the news lately - so be careful. HOrrid things. I know they do good but .......................
