Crying UTI on antibiotics

Post by Joypuppy Sun Sep 21 2014, 10:26

Hi everyone,

My almost 12 month mix staffie Joy is sick. Crying or Very sad

I noticed it on Wednesday evening she peed on my bad whom she never did even if i have her since 3 months only it took her less then a week to know where to pee and poop and i put no whatsoever effort in teaching her that. angel

On Thursday morning she did not want to eat her food nor wanted to leave the house for her morning walk.
Around 12 Am i called the vet and he saw her in the afternoon.
After some pee test the vet diagnosed her with UTI and gave me antibiotics named  "Clavubactin 250/ 62.5mg"  to take twice a day morning and evening. chatterbox  chatterbox

Since she is under meds she is behaving more dominant trying to hump my leg and also bite me.
After i correct her and give her a time she return calmer... So far she has learned everything from me with not much effort and this morning she finally pooped in the corner where i told her to on the ground and i was not even looking so i was very surprised that she pooped there. As for the past few days she is being sick i have not trying to train her as i think let's give her a brake now that she is sick. Her mourning as well make me think that she is really in pain , not eating as usual like not eating at all or very little. worried

I am a bit confused with her behavior because she tries to dominate me but she is also listening ...
I am not sure if she is playing when humping my leg or ...??? worried

Anyway i also have 2 other health concern that maybe someone recognizes...

1) After 2 or more hours playing , running etc every-time we come e back home she starts running like crazy, jumping from coach to coach for few minutes then stop and lay down.. Is it a sign that something else is wrong with her ? She has been doing this since day 1 that i took her from the animal shelter!

2) Almost everyday it seems like she looses balance and falls on her side when running and trying to catch a ball  or even jumping ?
Not sure if it is because she is so exited or something is really wrong with her...

Anyway, the animal shelter was not really helpful when i asked them hose questions, the vet just told me she have a UTI... but my experience with doctors in general is not really good therefore i hope someone here will have more experience and maybe advise me on what to do. doh money eyes

In any case thanks a lot :-)

Cheers

Hi, not sure why no ones replied to this but from my experience:

1) Zeus does this and always has done, no matter how much we tire him out, take him to the park etc, whenever we bring him home, he has 5 minutes of crazy time where he's rolling around on his back, kicking off the sofas, running around etc. I wouldn't say that's an issue, more that they're just trying to burn off any excess energy which they have.

2) Losing balance/falling would definitely be a concern for me, something doesn't seem right if thats happening. I would get it checked out with a vet. If you're having problems with who you're currently going to, get a second opinion.

It has been a long time since you created this post, so I hope you've managed to get it sorted out, please provide us with an update whenever you can.

Nita does the same, she has a mad five minutes after a long walk then settles down. I guess it might be a throw back to when they were puppies and did it

Glad to hear she is doing better. The running around is perfectly normal but I would be concerned with losing balance. A cranberry supplement would help prevent future UTI
