Whistle
Well today me and ruby went for it I had let her of the lead to play before but never to walk round the whole park from start to finish, at seven months we all know how excited they get but after talking to several other dog owners it had to be done. I armed myself with a whistle and strong cheese and was prepared for the worst first it was the crows straight for them I called her name blew me whistle back she came delighted to give over some cheese, next was a dog she had played with before when she had got a certain distance I tried me whistle again and again second time back she came brilliant this continued all round the park as she went up to small dogs big dogs people and ducks .I don't know if anyone else on here has tried it but it worked for us ,getting their attention is not easy when playing my last staffiie when that young had my heart in my mouth when chasing squirrels hope I haven't spoke to soon.

Re: Whistle
That sounds fab to me - how happy you must've been but I know what you mean about your heart in your mouth - very brave. I still daren't let Milo off his lead and he's 1 year now.
I'm going to get a whistle and see how it goes I think.

Sounds great well done to both of you! We tried a whistle but had no luck! He doesn't even twitch an ear when we are out!

Re: Whistle
Jenny what I have done is purposefully taken ruby to the park where the most dogs are I let her play if other owners consent, then when I thought I could trust her a bit I went for it practicing with cheese in your pocket at home helps the smellier the better, I still have my moments when she wants to play a little longer than I want but you have to expect this with milo being a year old I wouldn't Waite any longer the younger the better
