Thornit
My Flo has trouble with her rear paws and whilst it is worse in the summer, she will nibble at them all year round. We manage it at the moment by washing her paws and keeping them clean. We have tried all sorts of things but nothing has really cleared up the problem.
The OH came in the other day with a leaflet for Thornit which describes her symptoms exactly which includes nibbling at the underneath of the base of her tail.
Has anyone heard of Thornit or even used it ?

Re: Thornit
I put some on Bo's ears the other day and he stopped scratching, but I also cleaned his ears before-hand so I'm not sure if it was the powder or the cleaning that did it. Up here we're infested with harvest mites in late summer so I have Thornit and Effipro to hand for itching. Also, thornit has a very strong smell although it's not unpleasant.

Have not heard of it but would be interested what others say and any reports of it working.

Re: Thornit
I noticed today that the inside of Bo's ears are now perfectly smooth whereas before I applied the Thornit they had always been rough near the tips. Again, I don't know if that's just because I have them a good scrub or it's the Thornit.

Re: Thornit
Ian did you get any thornit for flo's toes or have you just been using the meds from the vets? I've started using it on Daisy paw that she chews and it does seem to be helping, the only problem is stopping her licking it after I've put it on, I put a sock on but it keeps coming off!

Re: Thornit
Started Sunday Saz. Thought I would try just one paw in case there was a reaction. All seems fine and I think there has been an immediate improvement in that paw. Have also put some on the base of her tail as that's a little sore too but haven't noticed any change there yet.
I'm cautiously confident. Going to start her other paw tomorrow. Not sure how many treatments to give though, maybe a couple of times a week and see how she gets on.
Fortunately Flo hasn't licked that paw at all. Glad you've seen a change too... We might be on to something at last

Re: Thornit
Hope so, I've been doing it every few days also tried a bit in her worst ear to see if it helps that too!

Re: Thornit
I think it was made for ears originally so could prove to be great for Daisy. Flo doesn't need it for hers
I just took another look at Flo's paws and I really can see a difference. Let's hope it continues

Re: Thornit
Darcy is like flo Ian, I use it on ears and paws, it's a bit of a vicious circle with DD itcy licked sore paws scratch ears making them sore, I'd say 90% of the times thornit keeps everything under control only very occasionally does she need the vets attention! like now as her ear is a little inflamed from scratching with those dam itchy paws lol! Xxx

Oh that's good to hear Hayley. Having said that, I've just got in and found her with her left paw in mouth.. That's the one I started today with Thornit.
Will be interesting to see after a couple of months... Here's hoping I've finally found something that helps her
