Advice anyone.
Hi all
Hope you and your dog's are well.
I have small question.
We've recently come back off holidays and today I picked Max up from the kennels.
I've only just noticed as he was lying on his bed about an index finger length from his tail a small raised patch of fur that wasn't there before.
When I felt it there feels like a small lump which is raising his fur up slightly. I thought at first he had just been sleeping funny and roughed his fur up.
He's not in pain with it I can touch it and press it quite hard. He's walking fine and is as mad as ever.
It's only appeared in the week we have Been away. Hoping he's just banged his back on something but I'm worried it could be something alot worse.
Wondering if you guys have had anything like that before.
Thanks a lot
Ian

Re: Advice anyone.
Are you able to take a photo of the raised lump ? this may help to ID it.
It could be a number of things, an insect bite or a reaction to something.

I can take a photo no problem. How do I post a reply on a board and include a photo?

You could do it simply with a Photobucket account, if you have one using the link below:

Re: Advice anyone.
Is there only this one lump or are there others on his body?
I'm not sure to be honest what it is, if it is still there tomorrow pop along to the vet.

Re: Advice anyone.
No it's just that lump. It's not rock hard like a cyst would be.
I was thinking of leaving it a week see if it gets bigger or smaller then taking him in.

Re: Advice anyone.
Could be a bite, if so I'd expect it to go down within a couple of days so if it's not gone down then, pop to the vets x

Re: Advice anyone.
Quick update. Whilst he was star fishing on the upstairs bed my wife has noticed a few more lumps on the inside of his leg. So we are reckoning it to be insect bites whilst being in the kennels.
Going to monitor them for a couple of weeks see how he goes.
Thanks guys and girls

exactly what i would do, no point in funding the vets pension pot any further. i treat my dogs like i do myself and i wouldnt go running to the docs everytime i felt like shite or i would be there everyday.
make an educated guess, stick with it and take other action if needed. i have free 24 hour vet nurse access an my friends use it more than i do lol

Re: Advice anyone.
If it's not sore and you're able to touch/move it just keep an eye on it. If it gets larger or sore then pop to the vets. Worth mentioning to the vet the next time you go for a check up or shots.
