Appetite Empty Appetite

Post by -Ian- Tue Sep 02 2014, 22:32

Flo has been on antibiotics and a reducing course of steroids for nearly 2 weeks now for her sore toes but her appetite has gone through the roof!. If you saw the way she's been behaving you would think we hadn't fed her for a week.

Is this normal when on these meds ?

I think it may depend on the dog. My last one's appetite also increased but Suki actually ate less

Steroids increase appetite considerably, they can also make a dog
drink a lot more which often causes 'accidents'.

Thanks for your replies all, her paws are much better. I had never seen her this attentive around food before, it really is like we don't feed her.

Thankfully the course finishes soon and we have resisted her constant demands for food so she hasn't put on any extra weight (apart from the few ounces from some extra treats she may have sneaked off me Big Grin )
