Up date - A bit of situation this morning
Took Debo for a walk in the park this morning. There was older guy with his german pointer ( I think, it looked like pointer, very tall ). The dog was on the lead and was muzzled.
The dogs didn't even noticed each others. On our way back from the park, just as we were about to leave the park, the pointer came from nowhere, no lead, with muzzle on. And had a go on DEbo, who was at that point off lead. Debo showed his teeth but backed up, when called him. I was just thinking to put Debo back on the lead because the pointer looked like he don't want to back up and there might be a fight. I've maneged to put Debo's lead. The pointer still went mad, barking and charging at Debo. Everytime they lost eye contact the pointer will charge and he was blocking the way out, so couldn't pass with DEbo. Debo was trying really hard to stay calm, but I knew that any bad move and he's going to be on that dog. The owner was no where to see, so I'm guessing the pointer run off him.
After 5min trying to get out we managed to do so.
It was really scary because the dog was really attacking Debo.
Just a rant.

Rant away... I think there's quiet a few of us that have been in a similar situation. Thankfully the pointer was muzzled but still scary for you. Well done Debo for staying controlled

People around me are idiots, why i always carry a flirt pole (home made) with me, one for playing with my three, two to shoo away unwanted dogs, it's like a third arm, i've never had to strike a dog, the stick along blocking them, have worked a treat.

Grrr how annoying ! I think alot of people when they muzzle their dogs think this is a license to then let their dogs run off anywhere cos they believe they're not going to cause any damage or get into fights with other dogs - but - of course the dog will most likely get hurt if they annoy another dog and get bitten for it which is totally not the fault of the other dog or owner.

Re: Up date - A bit of situation this morning
I dnt think these types of dogs (my bad) should be used for domestic pets , the amount of other dogs ive seen being attacked by them. Its their instinct to chase i think they should only be used what they were bred for . A lot does depend on the owner i do believe you shoukd do your homework before getting any dog.

This time reported to the police
Grrrrrrrrrrrr....
So this happened again. This time it was my OH who was with Debo. Debo was running after frisbee, when this dog came running from nowhere and again had a go on DEbo. Again muzzled on, no lead, but this time the owner was with him. When the dog tried to attacked Debo the owner just shouted to not worry, cause he has muzzle on
And this time it looked like Debo really had enough. My OH told this guy to take his dog away because Debo might have enough of his behaviour. And this guy said" If your dog attack my dog back it means it's agressive as well, so it should have muzzle on too"
My OH said to him that his dog shouldn't be running around with no lead on and just the muzzle, because it doesn't solve the problem and if Debo attack him back it doesn't mean his aggressive just trying to protect him self - dogs don't understand that they can't get bitten through muzzle. He said it wasn't the first time he attacked Debo, and the guy just said that he always do that -put muzzle on and let his dog have a free run and then the dog is back home
There was a lot of swearing
My OH reported it to the police. Not sure if he done the right thing but he said that he can't risk Debo's life because of one stupid owner. The police lady that someone is going to contact us in few days. I'm not sure why?

Well at first I was worried about the other dog while reporting it but then this guy would think twice if it was about Debo. And I have to think about my dog's safety

I think you did the right and responsible thing. If this owner has allowed his dog to do this with Debo then for sure it's happened to other people too.

Re: Up date - A bit of situation this morning
This is so NOT FAIR to you and Debo - why are people like this, it's so anti-social and bluddy awful for the dogs. You were quite right in reporting it to the police, I def would have done the same. I'm not sure tho the police will do anything tho so don't hold your breath. Let's hope they find him and have a word with him and let's pray it makes him put the poor thing on a lead or give it to a more responsible owner who can train it properly.

An awful situation on both counts glad you have reported it

Re: Up date - A bit of situation this morning
What an idiot (being polite)!! A muzzle doesn't give him the right to terrorise other dogs! Debo doesn't know he cant bite through it and what if it got pulled off in a tussle?! Would be disastrous!
You did the right thing. Keep note of times he was out walking the dog, might be easier for police (if they bother) to catch him.

Re: Up date - A bit of situation this morning
Thank you all. It feels good to know that doing the right thing. What worries me is if that dog got bitten, because of the argument with my OH, the guy could tell the police it was Debo?

I would have my mobile handy in video mode then you can try & get the evidence from the start. Might be tricky but maybe worth a try ?

Re: Up date - A bit of situation this morning
God that sounds like such a frustrating situation, the guy with the muzzled dog sounds like a prize plonker. I think you did exactly the right thing and I would have done the same. People that let their dogs constantly bother other dogs muzzled or otherwise are definitely in the wrong and need to learn to train and control their dogs better.

Re: Up date - A bit of situation this morning
Not had any issues with stupid dog owners like that. But why do people with bloody yappy little fluffy things think they can let their dog do whatever it wants? We've only had Travis 6 weeks and he gets let off the lead when it's not too busy near home, but that's because he's getting used to us and us him. He's on a long training lead if it's busy so he can just sniff about without us having to go in the bushes with him, and we've been asked if he's dangerous because he's on a lead!!! He's on his lead so that we can keep him safe from stupid people and yappy bloody dogs
