My mum has a staff x terrier she's a rescue who's 9 years old and has been part of the family for 4 years.

She had a cyst on her paw. The vet prescribed antibiotics and anti inflammatory(?) but since she has drank ALOT, and has even had some accidents at night. Is this normal while on these tablets?

I'm sorry i am only aware of heavy drinking when it comes to kidneys failure that certain prescribed medication can bring on.
I would check with the vet.

Acute kidney failure occurs rapidly, in a few hours or a couple days. Because there is a sudden change in the body's chemistry because of medication.

Some antibiotics can increase the amount a dog drinks. The accidents are happening because her body can't process all of the water she's drinking so it's going straight through & she can't hold it all in for long periods.

I would take her back to the vets and ask if the antibiotics she's on are known to cause excessive drinking. If not, then it could be an indication of kidney problems. If that's the case then the earlier you get treatment the better.

As Caryll said antibiotics can cause excessive drinking. I wouldn't be worrying your sister with things like kidney failure if the dog has just come back from the vets. Drinking huge amounts can be down to many things but if its a recent thing I would most likely attribute it to her medication

Yes, so would I, but advice from the vet would be best.
