Re: strong rope toy
Another idea is to knot an old sheet and use that for tuggy. I have always
found the knotted ropes fray quite a bit and end up in the poor dogs
mouth.

Re: strong rope toy
I can vouch for the old jeans tied up, but I picked up a cheap one from a discount shop and it's lasted longer than the supposedly strong ones from p@h lol!

Re: strong rope toy
As an alternative to a rope type product for tug of war, id go with the kong safestix. Had one for around 18 months or longer with a power chewer that can dismantle skirting boards faster then a gypsie builder, and its hardly even marked. Plus its good for "flipping", which I dont know about anyone elses, but mine loves flipping it up and catching it. Also good for the old "catch me if you can" game as it gives you something to be able to actually catch em by.

We live in a fishing village and I picked up an old piece of rope on the shingle beach which had been used for pulling in nets. I washed it thoroughly in several changes of water to get rid of the salt. It's very strong and you can usually find pieces on any beach around the country.

Don't be so mean. That's half the fun.

Re: strong rope toy
When we first adopted Rocky my hubby made a tug toy out of an old bed sheet. He just cut it into lengths then tied knots it in, job done, much cheaper than any shop bought toy and just as much fun.

Re: strong rope toy
Pink loves the heavy-duty tuggers from The Range.
Its about 80cm long, a good 8cm thick with two hefty knots each end. I think it cost about £7ish.
Her first one has lasted her 3 months before she had bitten through so she now has a new one.
Not encouraging madam on to tuggers made from clothes as I want her to know there is a big difference between her tug toys and peoples clothes especially when they are wearing them.
