Hello! New Staffy Mommy here!
Hi Everyone, I just adopted McDreamy (the SPCA named him, and I'm keepin it!) on Saturday and have fallen head over heals for him. So, I'm out here.. reading up on him and posting some stuff.
(They say..) he's a four year old stray, food agressive, and abused in his past life, with a blood clotting disorder (took 8 minutes during a minor surgery) - (I know) he's not food agressive with my other two dogs, still feels the need to mark his territory inside (boo), he's friendly or ignores every animal we've come accross in the last three days (and we've been out socializing A LOT), friendly to every human from babies to grannies (so far), stays with me at all times on and off the leash, I have not heard him growl or bark once in the past 3 days that I've had him, he did freeze when a couple of folks passed by with walking sticks/canes , he accepts treats gently, LOVES to curl in your lap, does this really cute snapping/chomping when he gets excited (but never lands a bite - don't think he's actually trying to bite), SNORES <3, and has been eating/drinking as a well adjusted dog wood, has endured getting in and out of the car - which he does NOT like car rides..... overall... he's absolutely perfect to me.
I love my other two dogs, and they're older and set in their ways... I'm really concerned that they're going to teach him bad traits (don't get me wrong. .I love my two dogs) but they're so obsessive, easily agitated, and basically just ignores everything I try working with them on. Ugh.. is there any way to help shield the new one from this?

Oh McDreamy has landed on his feet coming to live with you.. lucky boy !! He looks a darling.... how could anyone mistreat that fella?? GGGRRR!!! Anyway can't give you any advice sorry, but I too have a 12 week old pup and a 12 year old. Jethro. Jethro is scared of his own shadow, but so far little Winston hasn't picked up on it. .....

Hi & welcome. What a handsome boy he is, and what a fantstic name!
Just keep an eye on the dogs while they're together & if you think McDreamy (what a name, can't get over it!) is doing something you don't want, just step in quickly & correct him gently but firmly.
I'm sure they won't influence him too much!
(p.s. an unwritten rule of the forum is that you must post loads of pics! )

Re: Hello! New Staffy Mommy here!
I definitely want to see more pics of McDreamy. I think he's almost more handsome than the two legged one
I have a 13 yr gap in age with my two, but I'm the opposite Kita has always been so gentle and laid back I wish Izzy would adopt some of her manners.
Well done on the rescue, did they give any other medical info or reason for the bleeding disorder? Welcome aboard

Re: Hello! New Staffy Mommy here!
Hello from me and Poppy, and welcome to the forum
McDreamy, what an amazing name! I love it! Cant wait to see lots of photos Anyway my staffy is a rescue dog, and I've also had a Jack Russell already at home. He's got plenty of bad habbits (he's only 8 months), so for example, he chews and eats anything that's in the garden (wood, plastic, literally anything), he pretty much enjoys ruining the whole garden lol, and since I've had Poppy, he's been a bad influence on her. She started doing exactly the same what Mylo does, ruining my garden but all dogs are different so you can't tell whether your other 2 doggys will be a bad influence on McDreamy, just supervise them 3 as much as you can, and if she's doing anything she's not supposed to, firmly tell her off.
