eye problems Empty eye problems

Post by Brianbing Sat Aug 09 2014, 12:53

i have a 7 and a half year old staffie called Roxy we have been told that her tear ducks (if that's how you spell it) are not working so we have to buy a cream that goes in her eye every day 3 to 4 times a day, at about £40 per tube, can we use anything from the chemist that is cheaper.

regards Brian.

if it's just false tears then I cant see why we couldn't use stuff from the chemist we use 2 creams from the chemist and one of them show diagrams of the cream being put into a humans eye

Find out what the vet is going to give you and do a net search.

You don't have to buy from the vet.

The vet puts a big bump up on all meds.

Definitely see what the vet prescribes. I'd never take a chance with eyes Smile

I only ask because the paper information sheet that comes in the box with the eye drops show the drops being put into a humans eye not an animal but I will ask the vet on my next visit on Monday for her 4th injection for arthritis in her left leg, thank you all for replying

yes she is, she's a fantastic natured dog brilliant with grown ups and children, she loves my grand children, follows them round everywhere, she's on meds for her eyes, ears, leg, oh man how expensive but we love her and don't care about the cost  Smile

Not really but health issues are hard to deal with and can be very sad.

Hiya,

Iv also got a 7 1/2 year old and his eyes are constantly running, previous owner said they've always been like it and vet couldn't find a reason for it.

Any suggestions?

Daisy's eyes always run if she's eaten anything with grains in it, may be worth trying a grain free food?
