We had dog trainer came over to ours last Friday. She is in 50's and seems have a lot of experience. She told us that Zeus is pretty good behavior dog but he stare pretty insensibly and long time. She think that is bad manner. I kind of understand that that habit might make other dogs nervous and causing been attack or something but didn't think that bad....

Is that bad thing? Thanks for your help in advance.

When we did a training sessions the first thing we learned was it get the dog to look at you to wait for a command so personally I don't think it's a bad thing!

I agree with saz, we taught Darcy to look at us until we tell her otherwise Smile

It is pretty rude behaviour, if Biscuit is starting I give her the focus command and divert the behaviour.

Staring is generally seen as a challenge.. But it does depend on what the rest of his body is doing too, if other dogs are seeing it as a negative it can cause fights.

Can you describe what he's doing? Is he staring at dogs and people? Is it a hard stare, or more looking for too long?

He only stare at us normally and not aggressive or negative way. Looks like he is trying to say something or sending message kind a way. (Mummy I am hungry or I want to go for walk type of look) He doesn’t normally stare at other dogs. This dog trainer lady made an comment when she actually call him to give him treats then he just sit there and waiting for her to give him more hence staring. (focusing) I would say normally his body language is wagging his tail or sit still and focusing on our commands. (normally food involved) So over all he only stare at us when he wants to say something or when he is waiting for our/someone’s commands.

Sounds more like he is focusing on you to me rather than "staring" you out.
