I don't think so, there are too many off them. Staffs make terrible guard dogs because they love people so much!

Re: Will staffs and other similar dogs get banned?
there wasn't no real pits on that show just idiots calling their crossbreeds pitbulls
Re: Will staffs and other similar dogs get banned?
agree with steve. not one pit on the show, some nearly type but none so sloppy reporting again.
as for getting staffs and bully types banned...never gonna happen. just to many about and so many experts out there that know what the real deal is with them. I know police officers that say what a stupid law the section one DDA is and in alot of countries and american states they are repeling breed specific legislation.
if i wanted a proper attack dog it would be a GSD or Malanois both of which have a higher agression level and bite force than a staffy and the experts know this, defra knows this. the press and dumb nuts down the pub dont.

Although pitbulls were banned in the uk and the government will never revoke that ban I do believe they now realise that banning a breed just makes them popular with the wrong kind of people and people will find ways to breed dogs that look similar so I actually don't believe any more breeds will be banned I think the lesson has been learnt even if the law makers won't admit it and now the focus is turning on owners and responsible ownership it's taking ages and it's slow progress but people's attitudes are changing and more and more will be done to ensure responsible ownership.

I think most people with common sense no the ban is useless. Its very rare for a dog to just turn on someone with no reason. There needs to be changes on how we deal with dogs and maybe bringing something into play on owning one. It could be going on a course to learn about owning a dog and covering problem areas on dog behaviour.

Moo would fall into a 'type' but I have no worries as she is well trained/behaved and no one would complain. Don't worry. Xx

Re: Will staffs and other similar dogs get banned?
Biscuit was also type tested 3 times in kennels and neither could agree so she came through, she's under 20kg for god sake.. Clearly not pit bull standard! I'd probably say the blonde girls female dog was closest to type that I saw.. But the brown "aggressive" one with the chav looked like a gun dog cross.. Or maybe even some kind of pointer cross. Bug jumps and grabs on ropes/poles etc because it's good exercise and tires her out, but she wouldn't do that to a person because she's trained and I'm not an idiot. I don't think Staffies will get banned, and the perception of them appears to be becoming more positive, but Pit Bulls will more than likely stay banned. It's odd that nobody ever has any of the other illegal breeds? Only pit bulls!

Re: Will staffs and other similar dogs get banned?
I was wondering that as well Rach but I think it's because it's so easy to recreate a pit looking dog as anything bred with a Staffie keeps the Staffie look and bred with a bigger dog hey presto you get a pit looking dog maybe others are harder to recreate so they've just died out?
