Sasha Spots Update
Hi everyone,
Ive just been to the vet with Sasha regarding her fur loss and spots on her left side of her neck and down her back and come back £120.00 lighter. Vet said that it could be the food she is on but is more likely to be a reaction to flea bites. She told me off for not treating her for fleas when I said that she wouldn't necessarily get them as she hasnt any real contact with other dogs and def not with cats and that I didn't want to put chemicals on her unnecessarily but she is groomed and checked on a regular basis and I havent found any fleas or flea dirt on her but she said it only takes one bite to start an allergy. She then got stroppy when I said that I would rather treat the spots and bare spots first before putting flea treatment on her as some of the spots were red and the tops had been knocked off and didnt want to hurt her. So she gave me antibiotics and steriods to sort out the infection and told me to bring her back on Friday. I was chatting about how I was going to get the 3 tablets down her twice a day and suggested that I could do it with a small piece of banana, well I thought her head was going to explode, she then proceeded to go into a rant about not giving her any fruit and vegetables, I thought that it was ok to give her some fruit and veg as an occasional treat (no grapes, apple pips etc) but im sure banana was ok. Any opinions on the last bit xx

Re: Sasha Spots Update
Sounds like she's a little on her high horse.. And also talking rubbish!! Biscuit has banana daily, also has berries, sweet potato, apple slices, raw carrot.. All sorts really apart from the toxic stuff obviously. I also don't treat for fleas unless required and Biscuit hasn't had any in 3 years. Vets can be wonderful, or pushy money makers. I've moved around a bit, but luckily found a good one!

Re: Sasha Spots Update
Morning, gave Sasha her 3 tablets yesterday and this morning the spots have gone down loads and the bit on her neck isnt red anymore. I didnt need to give her banana in the end as she let me give her the tablets fine. She had her first meal of Natural Instinct today and she licked the bowl clean. Shes had her tablets this morning so hopefully in a couple of days the spots will be gone xx

Jan, I don't like using chemicals either on Toots so she has brewers yeast with garlic tablets for the flea prevention and four seasons natural wormer, which also prevents lungworm

Vets are funny things aren't they! Where would we be without peanut butter and banana kongs?!
Glad the spots are going down And lucky you not having to sneakily disguise her tablets

Re: Sasha Spots Update
Hi this morning the spots have nearly gone not sure if thsts thd tablets or the fact that ive taken her off the rubbish food she was on, the only ones left are the ones that have scabs on where she scratched them before. She has got bad wind though not sure if its the sudden change of food. Wouldn't have normally given her such a drastic change but vet wasnt sure if it was the food she was allergic to, anyway shes loving the raw diet she is now on and isnt sniffing around the floor looking for scraps so maybe its filling her up more. Well gotta take her back to the vets on Friday for a check up not looking forward to that one hopefully will get a different one xx

Re: Sasha Spots Update
Even if the vet's advice was correct her attitude leaves a lot to be desired. You are spending your hard earned cash with her and as such should be treated with courtesy and respect. I would be looking for another vet I'm afraid.
Are you sure it's the medication which is bringing about an improvement or is it the change to raw or a combination of both?
