My jove I think we've cracked it!
Eddies IBD was not exactly getting better! He has stopped being sick and he is kind of eating but was refusing any form of carbohydrate! Seeing as we have been advised to keep him on a bland bland diet that has to consist of Turkey/chicken/white fish, Rice/pasta/potato and a form of vegetable like carrot we have been restricted. I searched on line for recipes for dog treats/foods that doesn't contain any form of oil or fat and found nothing that was suitable!
He has been eating the protein part if we feed it to him but has spat out or out rightly refused any form of carb or veg!! So me and my hubby got together this afternoon and created some 'Eddie-ble meatballs'!
We mixed 500g Turkey mince with a grated potato, grated carrot, 1/4 loaf of bread crumbed (without the crust!), an egg and a teaspoon of turmeric! We made 20 meatballs out of the mixture and cooked them for 30 minutes until the outsides were crispy!
He has eaten 11 so far and was actually asking for more, but seeing as he hasn't eaten a lot for nearly 3 weeks we're taking it slowly!! We'll give him a bit more in an hour or so, as we've been doing for most of the afternoon!
More than chuffed with the results and hopefully as he gets better and we can play the game of can he/can't he with other foods we can maybe progress to adding more nutrient based items but we may also do batches so that the puppy can eat the same as well! xxx
