Too early spaying/neutering
Somebody gave the connection to this article and its really good and inside there's a connection to an e-petition against too early spaying the RSPCA are doing as early as 6 weeks! Somebody need to speak for this poor creatures that are not only abandoned so early they never get the chance to develop normally. Just today I met a 1+ old staffy that the vet recomanded spaying at 3 month old and her development stopped! I think it's heartbreaking. The article:

Re: Too early spaying/neutering
It's far too early for the males as well and some of the breeders are doing it as well to avoid future competition . Unbelievable.

Re: Too early spaying/neutering
My sister had her girl spayed early on advice from the vets and she has bladder control problems now

Re: Too early spaying/neutering
Many girls are sentenced to life time incontinence just because their bladder is not developed enough but the vets don't tell you that before.

Re: Too early spaying/neutering
We all have different opinions of when to do it but I have never heard of a vet suggesting or even doing it at 6 weeks!

Re: Too early spaying/neutering
I'm not even getting into the argument if to spay/ neuter or not and obviously there are pros and cons but doing it so early in life is a crime and we must speak for those poor souls. I signed the petition and I hope others will do as well. I had no idea they do it at 6 weeks and I'm horrified. I wish I knew what else to do.

Re: Too early spaying/neutering
I've sadly seen many dogs fixed under 12 weeks most centres do work towards giving adopters a neutering voucher that they must use at around 6 months, and which will be monitored to ensure that they are done, but it still happens.

Re: Too early spaying/neutering
rescues are looking at it at a population control, people want pups and so many don't use the spay vouchers, they have no control once the animals have left the shelter and they are then bred from and end up back at the shelter, i understand their frustration and the blame shouldn't be just on them, they wouldn't have to take such drastic actions if it wasn't for people over breeding they deserve more blame, these shelters are trying to cure the disease these idiots created, (the already tried preventions but people let them down) yes it is too young to go under anesthetic (i don't agree with it), the risks are higher yes but so is being used as breeding machines, not being adopted because people want quick fixed puppies not 6+ months, they were not given a choice in the matter.

Re: Too early spaying/neutering
First, it's not only the RSPCA but breeders as well do it!
2nd the early age is the real problem and there's no justification on earth for spaying at6 weeks!
And whats the point of creating a whole generation of incontinent- backward dogs? Think how many of them will end up back at the RSPCA or worst cause people won't be able to deal with their physical/ mental/ behavioural problems.
Please sign the petition cause I can't believe any dog lover will agree to this cruelty!
My pup is 9 month old and didn't even come into season in different circumstances it would be her or your dogs and no dog deserves it . Again, the point is not spaying/ neutering but the early age it's being done- far too early.
