Well I got a rude shock!!
Poor Ruby went from this:
to this:
In approximately the 15 minutes it took me to get the poor love to the vet. I did give her a new brand of treat about an hour earlier, but the vet suspects insect sting.
She has been given an antihistamine and anti inflammatory injection so I am hoping she is back to her beautiful self by tomorrow.
Certainly gave me a bit of a scare.

Re: Well I got a rude shock!!
My old dog Floyd looked exactly like this once. A shot of antihistamines sorted him. We think it was a reaction to a chocolate bar he stole and ate!

Re: Well I got a rude shock!!
Thanks for the well wishes everyone.
About two hours after the shots the hives were gone but the swelling around her eyes took a fair bit longer. Her eyes were back to normal about 6 hours later after her late afternoon nap.
If it was a bee, hopefully she learnt her lesson and doesn't eat anymore!!!
If it wasn't a stinging insect I am at a loss and fingers crossed it doesn't happen again any time soon. Dog medicine is expensive and yesterdays 10 minutes at the vet cost $104! (Which I would pay ten times over to see her comfortable). Just seems I am in the wrong the field of work.....
The only difference is I normally give her a pig ear as a weekly treat and this time I bought dried pig trotters. Same animal but maybe different treatments. Who knows.
Thanks again.
