Yuk tick
I found a tick on Ozzys head, I rubbed olive oil on it then got tweezers and pulled it out - yuk! It made a horrible noise pulling it out, I've got rid of it but Oz has a big red raised mark where it was, should I be putting anything on it now?

Re: Yuk tick
My dogs and I are always getting ticks as there always in the woods and heather.I actually had one on my leg yesterday lol. The dogs have been lucky and never gotten a infection from them but i bought a thing from the vets for a couple pound that pulls them out without leaving the head still in

Re: Yuk tick
Eeewwee he has a big lump and is red where I got it out. Have bathed him again in salt water much to his disgust but will definitely keep my eye on it. I did think he I bashed into something and was a scab. So he has had it for a few days but when it got bigger I knew it was something horrid. Who invented these things, what is their purpose apart from being disgusting?

Re: Yuk tick
Poor Ozzy but I know its more disgusting for you. They are disgusting disease spreading critters and I hate them with a passion and check Marquez obsessively to make sure he doesn't get them here as they are carried around by the rats and do carry disease. We have Diatomaceous Earth arriving soon to kill any hitchhikers but garlic to his food seems to have worked well as a repellant.

Re: Yuk tick
Get some hibiscrub from chemists or vet. Got mine at Boots. Is disinfectant. Always hand to have around
What kind of noise did it make?! Must have been satisfying to get it out.

Re: Yuk tick
I have found a other 3 on Brody today lol. It's normal for it to have a small bump and be red for a while, even if you do leave the head in just keep it clean and it should push the head out overtime. That's what a vet told me years ago

Re: Yuk tick
Had a tip that gets them out if you can bear to do it!
Get your thumb and use a circular motion on the tick. it doesn't like it and falls out head and all!
Did this on my last staff that had a tick. Yuk indeed!

Re: Yuk tick
Yeh it all came out,I get them often but it's never left a mark like this before, it's normally a small red bump for a day or two. Brody ended up having 4 ticks on him at once the same time I had mine. We're always in the woods walking through heather and long grass and I think that's where we must get them from

Re: Yuk tick
Ewwww you lot are making me itch Ticks belong to the same family of creatures as spiders, they are arachnides. Good video below for removing them:
