why do people feel the need to use the term,'pitbull'
As I have seen on.here by a few people, they have had people come up to them and ask if their dog is a pitbull.....today I had the very same thing....loki is 15-16 weeks old, and he is quite leggy at the moment, but I have no idea why people say this....and now I'm paranoid he's gonna be to tall and.typed

Re: why do people feel the need to use the term,'pitbull'
I think it's because they have no idea what they're talking about. Loki looks good to me, very similar shape to my old boy Floyd at his age and he wasn't called anything but a Stafford. As you know they grow dodgy! Different day, different look is what you have to have in mind.
Put Floyd 2000-2013 in the search bar above and check him out.
I'm convinced Loki will be a stunner.
Pete.

Re: why do people feel the need to use the term,'pitbull'
Its so annoying when someone says it and even worst when they own a staffy themselves.
Lula at the moment seems to have a big body and little head and don`t get me started on her ears. My daughter thinks they are adorable but they have a life of there own
Lula looks huge on photos but she not and only weighs 12kg
Best to just ignore the idiots

Re: why do people feel the need to use the term,'pitbull'
More often than not it's the people who are the least informed, have read tabloid newspapers or are just plain ignorant of the fact that Staffies come in different shapes and sizes. Meg was a gangly pup, it can take a few years for them to mature and finalise shapes. I have seen both sides of both non-owners and owners who have been biased against Staffies and also those who love them, but these people are usually have owned Staffies or know someone who has owned one. Me, personally, would not have any other breed of dog. Treat these people with the contempt they deserve because I have found that no matter what you say, they know best.

Re: why do people feel the need to use the term,'pitbull'
After having loki, yes I know he's a snappy Croc sometimes, but he's wonderful!!! Someone I know went through some stuff with her staff and BSL and now every gangly staff that comes along, the words 'looks like a pit' comes out....it annoys me.

Re: why do people feel the need to use the term,'pitbull'
I am frequently asked what Bacchus is because he is pied so not typical of what the uninitiated think of as a staff. This suits me fine because they have usually approached him and made friends before the prejudice has a chance to kick in. On the subject of BSL, this law is absolutely ludicrous. Anyone who has met a pit bull in responsible hands knows what beautiful, gentle dogs they are.

Exactly Reuben there's nothing wrong with pitbulls. Just stupid law horrible owners and breeders and even more stupid people that don't even know the difference between a pitbull and a lab.

Re: why do people feel the need to use the term,'pitbull'
The law sounds crazy, i didnt even know anout the law untill i came on here. So what happens if you have one off them xxl am bully dogs that are pitbull crosses? Are they legal since they don't really match the carastistics off a proper apbt as there so much bigger etc. but a staffy x lab can be taken away for looking like a pit. How can this even be legal

Re: why do people feel the need to use the term,'pitbull'
You can't have any dog that would have the charactistics of a pitbull or a actual pitbull in England, there is an exemption process, but then the dog will have to be muzzled in public, tattooed, always on a lead, neutered, and not to be held by anyone under the age of 16. It's a bullshit law, but unfortunately the minority has.ruined it for the best of us.
