Short term loan adverts on TV
Am I the only person in this land that thinks they should be illegal along with all the other stuff like cash converters etc. Just seen an advert for Quick Quid on TV representative 1734% APR

Re: Short term loan adverts on TV
I couldn't believe the APR on that quick quid advert I thought I had read it wrong. They are so easy to get and aimed at the people who have bad credit. Just puts them in an even worse situation.

Just seen another one Pounds to Pocket 20% discount using voucher code so you can imagine how much profit is in it for them

They should be outlawed, they are completely unethical.

Re: Short term loan adverts on TV
Thing is when people are desperate they really do not realise what they are letting themselves in for , like Brighthouse and stuff
Should say "Have the same as everyone else and pay though the nose for it" I can really sympathise with people on the breadline but I annoy my kids as we can afford it but refuse to pay for it . A good friend of mine got up to the ears for his 4 kids to give them the same as their mates and thinks when they all get to 16 it's over and then they can catch up,, yes mate jog on. And these companies really monopolise on this kind of thinking .

Re: Short term loan adverts on TV
I was brought up knowing that "if I can't afford it I can't have it" and this is what I am trying to instill in my children, as debt is being made evermore easy I worry for them when they are older and want them to have the right ideas now.

Re: Short term loan adverts on TV
They rely on the pester power of kids, they should be illegal, however we must remember who is in charge of the country at the moment.
I was bought up the same as this "if I can't afford it I can't have it". I still live by this value even now.

Re: Short term loan adverts on TV
Had my share of debt Kathy and always been me responsible to pay it off no rich parents to go running to. But learnt my lesson now for a long time and if I spend on my cc its paid off every month, the only debt I have is the mortgage and thats how it will stay. Bet these companies make a fortune over xmas and make a lot of people extremely miserable in the process when they realise how much they have to pay back

Argh..hate the adverts for the bingo sites, and the casinos. Makes me feel uneasy that they have so little qualms in fleecing people or encouraging gambling addiction!

They would be getting a certain amount of tax out of it I guess, they are just as bad as them

Totally agree. They're playing on people's need to get money fast, but the interest rates are legalised extortion!
I don't think I'd wear one of those shirts, either!

Is this a wind up or what , absolutely disgusting that they would take sponsorship of someone like this. Especially since the North East or some parts of it are down on their luck and probably a lot of people on the breadline. It would be like Glasgow Rangers getting sponsored by White Lightning

No but apparently according to TV the ones that aren't just go around stabbing people .
Seriously though when the most famous person to come out of Glasgow is seen to be Rab C Nesbitt you don't have much chance to you. I seriously love Glasgow and the people spent many happy times there working on Clydebank and staying in Duntocher
