My dog is on her period

Hi guys, I'm a little bit concerned with my 1 1/2 year old staffy Lola ... She's been on her period now for around 4 days & the only way I can describe this is ... She keeps clenching her vagina and trying to wipe it on our feet, I've never noticed her doing this before & she's constantly doing it, does anyone know why this is happening & is it normal?

She's usually fine, this is the first time I've noticed it & I'm lying she's been on her period now for nearly 2 weeks!!

Yes that just looks like a swollen lady garden totally normal, the season lasts average about 4 weeks - how do you mean this is the first time you have noticed it,at her age she would have had at least 1 prior usually 2 Xx

I mean the fact that she's constantly clenching her vagina ... She's had 2 periods before this one & it's never happened before, she's also constantly kind of wiping her vagina on our feet & she's not settling

Well a phantom would happen after the season - she may well just be uncomfortable with the heat (as in weather) - without seeing it its very hard to judge - I take it the discharge is a normal colour?

It's hard to explain, when she's clenching it's around 10 - 15 seconds apart, her tail is bent to the side & curls around then it swaps and does the same on the opposite side, she's then sitting on my feet wiggling her bum if you like, either scratching it or wiping it on my feet, & she does seem uncomfortable with it.

This may be way off - is she offering herself to you maybe? As a mate. Sounds odd but thats what they do with a male (or female lol)

My friend has just said that ... I have no idea of so what do I do about it?

Not a lot you can do - just wait till the season is over and discourage it Xx

You could try some DAP spray on her bedding, that may help to calm her down. Just follow the instructions on the packet.

As Janey said, is the discharge normal? Is she still bleeding?   

Discharge is normal, she's now off her period & isn't doing it anymore! If she's the same next time I'll try the spray! Thanks guys
