bites on her ears
Hi, I noticed that Sasha was scratching her left ear a bit, she let me take a look she has 3 what look to me like gnat bites I think she got them from the longer grass at the end of the garden. I have tried to stop her scratching her ear but im not with her all the time. The problem is now she is making her ear red and has a graze at the back where she has scratched it too much. I have cleaned it just with boiled water is there anything that I can give her without a trip to the vets . Thanks as always xx

Re: bites on her ears
You could give her an antihistamine, this should stop her scratching it. Do you have any oloe vera gel ? this is very cooling and will ease the soreness if gently spread on the effected area

Re: bites on her ears
Shes letting me clean it, its mainly during the night that she must be scratching because we are with her during the day and shes very good snd stops when we tell her too. I will try an antihistamine tonight and if it doesn't stop in a couple of days I will pop her into the vet xx

Re: bites on her ears
The gel will help to soothe the irritation on her ears, this is what we put on Rocky if he gets any insect bites that are causing him to scratch.
If you have any antihistamines you can give her half of one this will also help to ease the irritation

Re: bites on her ears
She will let me apply some shes really good as she is used to me looking and cleaning her ears if needed. I check them each week thats how I saw them normally I only do it so thst dhe gets used to it just in case she needs to visit the vet for a checkup her ears are normally really clean. I will go do it now and give her half an antihistamine at bed time so she doesn't scratch in the night xx

Re: bites on her ears
Keep checking them each day, if no improvement a visit to the vet would be in order
