eden food and a hyper pup

hi ..we have now hanged puppies food to Eden from csj and she seems a lot more hyper but sleeps better at night. I Googled it and it says the higher protein ( 41% )can make them more hyper , is there anything i should do to change it or should i wait a while and see if she settles on the food . I did a gradual change..

Not too sure if the high protein is a cause of a hyper pup. Marquez only eats protein and fat and he's not hyper at all. Maybe she's just a normal energetic pup

I'm not sure that a higher protein content would make a dog more hyper, I would have thought it would have the opposite affect. Maybe the food has other additives that would account for the hyper activity.

no additives that i can find in it and it is supposed to be one of the best dry foods you can get, but she definitely is more hyper on it .. im glad she is sleeping better though 7 hrs at night yay so i get about 5hrs when im not stirring to hear if shes awake..

Does she have any other treats or biscuits during the day ?

If it's dry food a high protein content along with other sorts of "fuel" is usually added to working dog food. We always kept our more energetic working type dogs on low protein foods in kennels to keep their activity levels low. Not sure how it all works though!!

hi do you think maybe then a lower protein diet is better ? she has settled a lot on Eden now apart from swallowing it a lot more then chewing it . Im also wondering if i should mi it with a wet food maybe as loads of people keep saying they never feed just dry kibble .. food..its always confusing   

You can add things to kibble to make it a bit more interesting like sardines, cooked chicken, raw egg etc. Wet food is a bit of a con as it is mainly water.

I don't feed kibble because Bug thinks it's BORING with a capital B and I wouldn't be too keen on eating it either. If she's hectic with the high protein there's no harm in lowering it with diet.. We always fed burns to hectic dogs is kennels but I'm not overly keen on it personally, people have had good results from wainwrights from what I've heard?

I used to feed raw but had to sell my big chest freezer when moving house, so for now Bug is on nature diet. She's not an well built as when she was on raw, but the food is great for her. It's at least 60% meat, and the rest is made up of ground bone, vegetables, vitamins, minerals etc. Her coat is silky and her energy levels are good, she enjoys the food and does well on it. I also feed raw heart/tripe/bones etc for the odd meal and she gets lots of oily fish through our home made treats

Eden is a fantastic food I seen this food but I would not see how it would make a hyper dog with it been 100% natural. Maybe it just a young energetic dog.

We feed both our dogs on Eden food the bitch was a problem eater with normal dry food but with eden she loves it. Our male took about a month of slowly changing his diet as it made him sick at first but now he is fine.
If you have any problems at all give them a ring as there customer service is fantastic.
