Upset and annoyed
Hi any advice please , I had my 2 staffys out for a walk this morning , If i see people i don't know with dogs i put mine 2 on leaders. didn't see this lady with her dogs till last moment but no problems i just blew my whistle and they came back to me and as it turned out her dogs were very friendly after chatting a few minuets we were on our way . I got a bit further along the path and another woman was coming along with a little terrier type dog , Mine were still on the leaders but hers wasn't, and it was running towards us barking ,I thought she might have stopped it but she didn't and one of my dogs started trying to get to it . my dog wound herself up so much she had a go at my other dog , hasn't hurt her but i was so upset i just went back home .My dogs are normally friendly and play with dogs we have got to know on our walks ,

Re: Upset and annoyed
I am sorry people should always put their dogs on a lead, people make me mad! Yours were on lead so no worries. Hope your babies are fine and you too xx

Re: Upset and annoyed
Aww, I hope the three of you are ok. People can be so inconsiderate. The yapping dog probably stressed your well behaved dog out. Good for you for always being so responsible though

Really is frustrating when other owners behave in this way. I hope it hasn't dented your confidence too much and that your two are all settled and ok now.

Re: Upset and annoyed
I feel for you. My dog is always on lead as he is DA, but others still let their dogs charge up to him even when I have told them he is not friendly You sound like a very responsible owner

Re: Upset and annoyed
While we're lucky that our dogs are very happy and friendly, we prefer to keep them on lead as we know they can be over exuberant for other dogs and in all honesty we would prefer to just have relaxed family walk time (keep in mind we have very few spaces to walk over here anyway). But yes, people still don't put their dogs on lead and you never know what the other dog charging up to yours is like. Very different if the dog has amazing recall and obedience though

Thank you all for your support,
Both dogs Ruby and Brin, settled down ok I think i was more rattled afterwards . Most of the time when they are walked there are 2 of us.1 dog each but on a odd occasion when hubby is at work I walk them myself..I wont let it put me of walking them alone though .

Moo is always off lead - if I see another dog onlead I will put her back on. You have done nothing wrong nor have the dogs - treat it as a bad experience Xx

Re: Upset and annoyed
Hello, I see that this talk was started back a few weeks ago. I would like to add my experience when I was out with my Chloe. I went to my park my doggie on lead until we in the park then I took her off she loved to run and be free. When I seen another owner with with dog(s) they put their dog(s) to their sides to hold him/her/them until they pass me and Chloe I would do the same, some owners didn't do this, their dog(s) would come up to Chloe so I let them meet and greet for a few seconds then carry on. What I did notice is that if it was any longer than that then other dog(s) would start wanting to play with Chloe or mounting her. This was her daily experience when she when for walkies every day (weather permitted) All the best Maggie.

Re: Upset and annoyed
That's nice your Ruby and Brin had the chance to go on walks from pup my Chloe didn't as she was 8weeks old we when brought her home, house trained her from then on. I didn't start taking her out til she was approximately 6 months old I think I knew she needed walking. I didn't have the confidence from when she was allow out following injections so I dedicated to take her out for a short walk that very first time she loved it :-) I did to a felt very save with her I never looked. The hart breaking news is that she passed away yesterday, She lived a fun-running- walking, being AND making herself the center of attention at all people filled occasions and giving and receiving love from anyone 12 years R.I.P Chloe x

Re: Upset and annoyed
At least you two were under proper control. I am convinced that they only growl because they feel vulnerable as they are on the lead
