feeling disheartened today
Took the furkids on their usual complex walk last night and walked past a house with 4 sausage dogs at their gate going mental. Usually we can get Rox and Vin to carry on walking but they went mental too shouting, lunging and pulling
Today they went to the vet's for their yearly check up and you know they're behaving like nutjobs when the vet walks in and does the "stand still like a tree" move. This is Roxy's favourite vet so she was going nuts for him but has turned into a bit of a scaredy with injections and she peed over her daddy and squeeled He did give us some ointment for the sore on her eye. Vinny is better behaved but together they pulled and tugged and refused to listen and we were those people all flustered going "sit" "sorry" "sit" "sorry" to them and vet
To top it all off the OH has been cross with them for it and we were having a disagreement. Normally Rox is all over him when he's anxious but instead she came and cowered by me and then chose to go and curl up on the sofa instead of tucking into her big bone treat. That made me really sad as she's usually super confident. I'm trying not to be cross with OH and add to it and have said he better have some good cuddles with her later and make it up to her.
Sooo, I think they have picked up on the change of routine with the OH's new job and could be acting up.
I'm tempted to get someone in to come and help me with a refresher in obedience so I can be the best mum for them I can.

Re: feeling disheartened today
Oh no... One of those days
Is it just last night & today they have played up ?... If it is perhaps give them a few days to see if they settle after the changes.
Can be quiet disheartening when they act up though.

Re: feeling disheartened today
Thank you
You know, it has just been last night and today. I've been boasting lately about how mature and calm they've been!
Thinking about it - with all the holidays we've had this has been the first full week the OH has been at the new job, so maybe they're acting up for him. I've also been anxious this week which doesn't help.
hopefully they will settle x

Re: feeling disheartened today
Well I was finished last night! The OH was in such a mood it worked on my nerves so I was well wound up. By bed time I told him to cheer up already and Vin got up and left the room. Rox came running through to the room and curled up shaking and panting - my confident little girl
That made the OH think about his mood and change it around. We took Rox outside for a play and treats and she was ok after that. It's cold and overcast today so they both had a good lie in. I'm at my parents today as is the OH at his but he'll be home early to make it up to the doggits and while we're out I'm sure they'll have a good play and relax.
Was so sad but feeling better today.

Re: feeling disheartened today
Hey! Glad you're feeling better today, if me and my OH go through a rough patch Biscuit's behaviour changes considerably! It's so stressful and not many people enjoy arguing! Really plays on your nerves.
Give yourself a break today, try not to beat yourself up. Life happens sometimes and it effects everyone, but vet rarely is the situation terminal, your little darlings will be back on form in no time, I'm sure xxx
