Wont be Black for long

Hallo People
Havnt posted for a while so I thought today is the day lol.
Rite I know this may sound like I have been smoking something but can assure you I havnt.
My little black and white puppy Ty is turning Brindle! Yup hes changing colour infront of my eyes I looked at him the other day and noticed a few stripes down his side then a few more on his back and now his chest is starting to turn gingery brown. I am goin to put Ty to bed one night black and am goin to wake up to a brindle boy. Its mad my o/h said it was going to happen but I refused to listen now I kinda think am goin to have a brindle Staffy just like our stormy who by the way also started life black then at the age of 2 turned Brindle.
Anyone experianced anything like this?

That's new to me, I've never heard of that happening before! But you know you'll love them no matter what. You'll both have to get some pics on so we can see it happening too

Brindles are taking over I've only had 2 brindles so I don't really know!

yep happened to my paul was all black and white at 10weeks now hes got random stripes everywere

I love brindle and white (on one dog not brindle staffs and white staffs itms) I'm gutted that my landlady won't let me have anymore or I would've been on the hunt for one in the next few months I think.

Awww hoe gorgeous!! See what you mean - very black when he was a little 'un and then looking stripey. Bless them, they are so gorgeous no matter what colour they turn out. Although I have to say, if Charlie ends up purple with orange spots, I may be a little concerned!!

I was once told that there was no such thing as a complete black dog in staffs & that they all have at least a small amount of brindling on them. I'm not sure if that's true, but Bandit was completely black when we got him at 7 weeks, but ended up black brindle.

Brindle is taking over, Bruno has got brindle in him too, I told the girl that i got him from as we're now friends and i think it upset her a bit cos when they were born their were completely blue and she thought that they would stay this colour and when the brindle started to come out, i remember posting on here about it. The brindle could come from generations back but i think it makes Bruno look even more attractive that he already is

There are so many shades of "brindle".
I have friends whose dogs were born black and stayed that way.
Out walking today we met another staff who was a totally different "brindle" to either of my girls and his owner also said he'd changed colour and lightened up over the last 2 years.

To think we pay money at the hairdresser for "foils" while on our dogs they just appear.

Ok, so we walk them, feed them, play with them, treat them like our kids and they get there dam hair done for free! Somethings just not right!

I know how u feel Tys mummy I also went out and bought a black staffie with a white chest and now have a kinda chocolate brindle dog not quite sure when it happened but it did, I was a bit worried at first he'd been swapped while i was sleeping but he still answers to Zero so sure its him

Yeah ive heard of this happening it is strange but apparently there is no such thing as a black staffy they will have brindle on them somewhere it is strange though

its not just Ty then thats good glad I noticed now rather than waking up one day to a different dog I would have been like Nikki lol. Its mad to think my dog was born black and white then all of a sudden changes colour completely its strange. do you think he will go full brindle or just have tigger like stripes? I dont want him to change hes my little black baby it will be so weird at first. I will still love him all the same no matter what colour he ends up hes my boy x

Gorgeous! I think it's really nice! I love a brindle (any colour) but the markings on a blue are so attractive.

No such thing as a black staffy, they don't possess the black gene that other dogs such as labradors do. ALL black staffies, no matter how jet black they may appear are brindle. The blue colouration is a dilution of black and they too can brindle or fade to a mushroom-y colour as they get older. Its very rare to have an adult silver-blue staffy.

That's what I was told by my dog's breeder! Even though Bandit appeared almost totally black (apart from a little white here & there) the breeder told us he was black brindle, and as he got older you could see the brindling, especially when the sun shone on his coat!

Bruno's dad is rare, He is a pure blue staffy There is no other colour in at all

so a male in the pub on monday he was three and was pure blue, bred from blue father and black mother

Even though on the pedigree they are called black brindle I am going to disagree slightly as I have one here who is totally black all over no white or brindle anywere and has been the same colour from birth as he is now at nearly 9 years old

Not all black brindles lighten or brindle with age, some stay jet black, but i promise you somewhere lurking will be a single brindle hair! Theres a couple of famous kennels that breed very solid black staffys. I can't remember the name, valgo? And theres another one. I love jet black staffies, but i'm really not a fan of brindles. (Sorry to everyone that owns one-don't hate me!)

How funny assuming you weren't really bothered about his colour lol!! He's so cute. Our old staff was black and had white chest and feet and in the summer he'd get light brindle areas. And Milo is white with black patch over his eye and 1/2 his face and he's developing a couple of faded brindle stripes!?

Any one out there got a totally black staff I wonder

You are welcome to try and find that one brindle hair cause I cant find it anywere I promice you

I do know two completely jet black staffords-Both are staffy x labs! Haha one is called Jet and only has one eye, and one is called Roxy and is Romeo's bitch.

My freind bred him (stormpike)she has only bred 2 litters he has lots of famous dogs in his pedigree but his grandfather is werefare prince naseem (rip) on both sides his father is tornado storm the legacy his mother tikkurilion wicked witch

just been looking through this forum, caryll you said your bandit was completely black at 7 weeks old, but you posted his pedigree on another thread and according to his papers his colouring was black and brindle. so what happened there then.

As Caryll said, Bandit was black brindle. Her breeder told her that and that is whats on his pedigree

He looked all black, but the breeder knew more than me! She knew that he would get some brindling at least, and he did!

Brindles rock, but then so do, blue, black, white and any other colour they appear.

There are some very famous red kennels who breed only reds , my boy is not very big he is top sized according to the breed standard but small compared to some staffords and on his pedigree he is black/brindle the gene is always present for brindle but not apparent in his case but some of the pups he has sired have brindle colouring not sure if thats passed from him or the dam
