Thoughts on feeding bones
Our Gabby has her mid day chicken thigh or drumstick daily, she absolutely loves them,as soon as she has finished her minced chicken or beef, she will sit until we have given it to her.
I'm now hearing stories about staffies getting ripped intestines caused from feeding bones,is there really a problem with feeding meat on bone?
Everything we give her is raw,she loves to crunch, even her rag eggs, she will leave the shell till last and then take it to her crate for a good crunching session.
We never allow her chicken in the crate though.
Looking for more chicken.

Re: Thoughts on feeding bones
My girl is fed complete raw, as are a few pooches on here, I've never had a problem, I think perhaps the bones your talking about May be cooked bones which can cause heaps of problems, I've never had a problem with Darcy and she's been fed raw for 7 months and loves it xx

I also think it's cooked bones that cause the troubles. I've cut my fingers on cooked rabbit bones when I've been peeling of the meat to save the bones to make bone broth and those bones are like razor blades. Seeing bones like this, I would never feed cooked bones to dogs but he has absolutely no problem crunching on raw rabbit, pork, chicken or lamb bones

Re: Thoughts on feeding bones
Toots has been fed raw since the day I got her. Chicken wings, thighs drumsticks etc, not had a problem.
I do occasionally find a bit of bone in her poo, but don't worry.
As above , never a cooked bone

Re: Thoughts on feeding bones
As been said, it's cooked bones that cause problems as when you cook them it removes the moisture making them brittle !

Re: Thoughts on feeding bones
We have been feeding raw for a few months and we haven't had any major problems! Bane has had a couple of times where he has sicked up an akward shaped bone, or had one stuck coming out the other end, but we just reduced the bone content and then slowly increased again until his body got more used to it.
Dogs stomachs are a lot more acidic than ours so will break down bones and things much more easily. Cooked bones are a whole different story and can be very dangerous.
