Need Help With Rescued Staffy Pup
Hi, me and my husband rescued a 4week old staffy pup today from a rejecting mother and family, she is eating soild puppy food and we have given her puppy milk, but we are not sure on what steps to take now and we want to keep her, we have even named her 'roxie', but as she is a young age we are not sure how to deal with her loneliness, diet and training. Could anyone please help??

Re: Need Help With Rescued Staffy Pup
Hi & welcome to the forum.
If I were you I'd take her to the vets for a quick check & advice on feeding etc. If she was a bit older I'd be happy to advise, but that's SO young to away from the mum!
You can't really start any training yet, she's far too young for anything formal. But you'll be able to start with simple things like 'sit' and 'no' etc when she's 2 or 3 weeks older.
Once she's old enough to go out (not for a while yet) I'd introduce her to as many different things/people/dogs as possible so that she's socialised properly, but she may always be a little 'off' with other dogs because she was taken away from her siblings & mother so early (I know it couldn't be helped if mum was rejecting them).
But I really do think that you either need a vet's or experienced breeder's advice sooner rather than later with the feeding.

Re: Need Help With Rescued Staffy Pup
My old college tutor took in a staffy pup maybe 3wks i think she was, when i was still at college a few years ago, because she was given away because the owner didnt want them around the house and lied about the age untill the police got involved. However she was a vet before she was a lecturer, she had to ensure she was wormed etc as she was bloated with worms, she fed her every so many hours and she was never alone she would bring her into college and sleep in her crate or be wrapped up in a blanket on a students lap they are so little and helpless so young bless them.
I agree tho' trip to the vets to ensure she is in good health, he/she will then give you advice on what you need to do etc.
