Leaving his food

Hi everyone. We put Alfie down to two meals a day from three about three weeks ago now as advised by the vet (he's 7 and a half months now). Since we've done this we've obviously made his meals a little bit bigger so he's still getting the same amount as he was when he was having three meals, but almost every meal now he's leaving at least a quarter of it which is very unlike him - he used to wolf his food down and still be looking for more! I know he wouldn't starve himself and he's absolutely fine in himself so I'm just wondering if he's bored of what he's eating? He's on Burns dry food - does anyone have any recommendations of something we could mix with it to make it a bit more appealing to him? Thanks! Xx

Ooo, the UK supermarkets (specifically Asda and Tesco) sell these rolls of meat called Webbox chub rolls, they are dead cheap and very good for mixing in with a bit of dry biscuit. I think they make the food a little bit more tasty and you only need to use a tiny bit (add a bit of warm water to make it go further and mix better) perhaps that could help?

Try adding a little tinned sardines in tomato sauce or oil. That or a raw egg used to get my girl interested, I even used to add a little cooked mince from time to time. (webbox is full of additives and rubbish and I wouldn't recommend it). Xx

The webbox chub rolls from the supermarket is ideal to mix with biscuits, just cut a slice and mash it in! Floyd loved them!

I've heard good things with the sardines and egg! Bane goes nuts for fish.
You could always try reducing the size of the meals and switch him back to 3 to see if he eats the full lot again? And then slowly change back to two if he eats the full lot?

To be honest it was quite a struggle going from 3 to 2 meals a day and he's finally at a point where he doesn't even look for food at lunch time so I'd only want to go back to 3 if I really had to! Don't want to confuse him! xxx

I've never met a dog yet that enjoys burns food! Shame as it's a good food! Any of my kennel dogs that were on burns had a few forkfuls of nature diet mixed in with a little warm water, you need to really coat the biscuits though. Personally, I wouldn't feed my own dogs the chub rolls, they really are full of cr*p! Biscuit isn't fed dry but she does have sardines and raw egg occasionally as it's good for her coat
