Mika and the couch
Not sure if she's really a puppy anymore, at the age of 7 months Mika's a big lump! If there's one thing that she still does that we don't want her to it's jumping up on the couch. We're trying to stop her doing that because the weather is still poor here so if we've been a walk or she's been for a pee in the garden she generally brings in a load of muddy footprints and if she's up on the couch it makes it look like we never clean! (We clean every day). The number of times we say "Down!" Or physically have to move her off the couch is unbelievable!

Re: Mika and the couch
Keep trying with the Down command, if all else fails try a charity shop for some inexpensive thows for the couch

Re: Mika and the couch
We have taught our Ronnie to wipe his feet at the door on the way in. We have an old towel just for his feet and make him sit and wipe his paws for him.
If he has been for a real muddy walk he takes himself up to the shower and waits for us to rinse him down.
Dogs dont understand what our possesions mean to us so its up to us to do our bit aswell and if we dont want muddy feet lets wipe them clean.
Make sure you little one as somewhere comfy to lie on. We have an old single duvet in a cover as a bed for Ron Dog - dont waste my money on dog beds, its much easier to replace the duvet in the cover for a £5 if it gets ruined.

Re: Mika and the couch
Agree on the covers for the couch. Other than that just be consistant with the down command.

Re: Mika and the couch
We wipe Darcy's feet before she comes in from walks and garden trips this equals a nice clean house and we have a throw for mine and her chair xx

Just make sure you are consistent with what you do - its either up or down - not up when you wants cuddles and down when they are dirty Xx
